Blow the spark plug hole out with compressed air first, so there's no dirt that drops down in your cylinder

I probably wouldn’t have attempted without this video. Just bought a 2014 Tiger 800 XC. Now I think I can do it, winter and I can’t ride so might as well wrench on the bike.

Thanks a lot, extremely precise and informative video to the word. I had a real trouble taking out the spark plugs from their cavity after a lot of diy I use some really skinny steak tongs that I had like pliers and took it out. Quite challenging to figure out with the tools but alls well that ends well! Thanks Gary

Normally spark plug sockets have rubber cones in them to grip the spark plug

Very well made vidéo. I've change m'y air filter last week-end. Its a good job. Ive bought NGk Ix spark plugs the last time. The last at least 60000km, And they have a better spark. If you do off road riding, its better to use a regular filter or put a uni pre filter. Thanks

Another great video but to an idiot like me could you do a video explaining rhe steps to taking the tank off? Im sure there are pitfalls i would fall into. Thanks in advance. Also, would this be the same pricess on a 2015 Tiger XCX?

Service Part 2 shows taking the tank off. The XCX is basically the same engine, so the parts should cost the same.

Gary How often do you replace the spark plugs?

If you buy iridium plugs, once. Otherwise according to your service schedule, which I believe is 24k miles

does the tank need to be empty? sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm just not sure if there's a valve of some sorts that prevent it spilling out

It won't spill it leak, but it will be a load easier to move with only a litre or two in it

This is one of the first Tiger 800 made. They were rushing them out and I guess corners were cut. This bike is covered in corrosion, but it did spend 5 years outdoors. If you find it on yours, look into some rust prevention treatment.

Sorry for very late reply. Note from NGK. NGK spark plugs feature what is known as trivalent plating. This silver- or chrome-colored finish on the threads is designed to provide corrosion resistance against moisture and chemicals. The coating also acts as a release agent during spark plug removal. NGK spark plugs are installed at the factory dry, without the use of anti-seize. NGK tech support has received a number of tech calls from installers who have over-tightened spark plugs because of the use of anti-seize.
