Those vr TW’s are also a prototype with the straight muscle pad, retail was curved. Tiger said he saw inconsistencies in flight and had MT make the muscle pad straight like the prior irons he had and the subsequent vr pro’s shared this shape

I think he played his best with Titleist. Should have stayed with them long term. Would have 20+ majors easily IMO
@DavidDusek8 ай бұрын
Historically, Titleist does not pay massive money to retain endorsed players. Over the years, the brand has let numerous players walk. Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Ernie Els, and a host of other players have all, at one time, been Titleist guys. In Titleist's eyes, no one is bigger than the script. - DD

@@DavidDusek I agree 100%. I like that about Titleist. Rory is another perfect example of a player that I think would have been better off playing Titleist !
@TheWedgeWizard7 ай бұрын
Totally agree with you. Maybe I’m bias but I’ve always loved mostly Titleist through the bag, no other brand have preformed as consistently through the years. They feel, look, play perfectly. Wedges (vokey), irons, woods/drivers are always top notch and check all boxes. I think he probably gave up about 1/2 a stroke a round going with Nike through the years. Nike had some good sticks but also some pretty bad ones, still Nike’s best still never matched Titleist.

Very cool video I just watched the same one on Rory. Ironically, they both played Titleist in their early years and then switched over to Taylormade. Maybe another video on comparing both players and their performance/wins with both Titleist and Taylormade. Merry Christmas and happy new year

David thanks for the insight into Tiger's equipment. Just curious will you have any videos on an up and coming putter guy named Logan Olson? I just bought his latest putter, plus Nelly and Scheffler are rocking his putter. Happy Holidays and have a good one. May you hit nothing but fairways and greens.
@DavidDusek8 ай бұрын
May I hit nothing but fairways.... that would be a wonderful present indeed. I won't lie, I need to do more research and reporting on Olson & Co., but it's safe to say the brand is putting itself on the map quickly. I have so many questions that I want to ask. Maybe something in Q1 2024? Happy holidays and all the best to you in the new year. - DD

So it turns out that Olson is some type of subbrand of TaylorMade. Nothing has officially been released, but there is a partnership there.

From what I understood is that Tiger used the TourBX during Riv and said he was going to go back to the XS. Because he didn’t lose as much distance as he thought and he liked the feel around the greens. I could be mistaken tho

I talked with Bridgestone PGA Tour reps and designers about this and was told Tiger has changed into the Tour B X ball at Riviera and has stayed with it. I can't go into a lot of details, yet, but let's just say there is going to be more clarity on this in about four weeks when Bridgestone's 2024 Tour B family drops. - DD

Correction: Tiger wanted a certain swing weight I believe it was D2 and Scottie overlooked the swing weight part during his rush to get it completed and shipped out to Tiger on tour. Scottie did a last minute swing weight check and realized it was off. So Scottie drilled the two holes out and filled it with dycum and then painted it cherry red. Theres actually a great video on PGA International KZbin channel where some experts estimate the value of the putter at over $100,000,000.00 very cool story

The GSS is very noticeable when compared to off the shelf versions. If you’re a half way decent player you’d notice the difference immediately, very soft almost insert like. Personally an 1/8 inch difference is very noticeable, a 2g difference is noticeable, 1° different in lie of angles is noticeable, etc. when you’ve played the game your whole life tiny differences are noticeable. But the difference between off the shelf steel & GSS is very noticeable to anyone who plays.

There's no talk about Miura being the true club head supplier for Tiger? And that Nike/Titelist were just "rebranded" for marketing purposes so they can sell equipment. Same applies with Nike balls, when they were actually made by Bridgestone.

So much BS in this video GSS is just normal stainless steel (which is hard af not “extremely soft” ) and Scotty’s with “GSS” had been a normal production putter option for a few years not special in any way Also, those titleists are when Tiger became tiger and he wasn’t a great driver of the ball in fact he was notoriously awfull and all over the place he just happened to hit long
