@@shadowyzephyr One could argue that prolonged human interaction caused them to learn some words/sound patterns and figure out which ones are associated with them (like picking up phrases from playing video games in another language maybe?) but this has also wracked my brain from time to time, along with the series' handling of dog language. The fact that Redscar faked a sign so Flowerstar would be leader is actually so interesting because it’s not expected a medicine cat would do such a thing. It would be so cool if the Erin’s gave us an evil medicine cat!!! I hope someday we can see the difference between fate and situations like that because I wonder what starclan thinks when that happens. It also sucks how starclan is so mysterious and we never actually find out if characters like Mothwing are supposed to be medicine cats or not. Like we know the sign was faked but I mean an actual confirmation in the books she should go back to being a warrior or not. Or how it’s ironic there was no reason for Alderheart to be a medicine cat and was thrust into it, but unlike other characters (such as Shadowsight) he just happens to have an actual connection to them.

As someone who knows who none of these cats are, that makes a lot of sense. (I mean, I know Tigerstar, Badgerfang, Whitestorm, Whitetail, and Pinestar (I coulda sworn his dad was Rowanstar lol. Didn't he die nine times after Scourge's attack? I remember reading the vividly detailed description of Tigerstar's disembowelment, which resulted in him dying and reviving nine times, just to keep dying as he bled out from the severity of the injury.
