I would add, if you turn far enough removing the handle with an Allen wrench there’s a good chance that the tiny screw is going to be affixed to the end of the wrench. Always put a towel, even a paper towel, down in the sink to prevent any small parts (like that screw) from falling into the drain. I just replaced a hot/cold stem in my bathroom sink and used a Kleenex or two. Didn’t drop anything but better safe than going to Lowe’s to hunt for a tiny screw that might not be easy to find…

Mine had a little plastic plug hiding the hole. Easy to remove with the tip of a sharp knife. The screw was 2.5mm and not accessible until I rotated the faucet.

When I removed the outer ring in my faucet there was just a round black plastic piece, not brass or metal at all. And there was no space to insert the wrench.

Never mind. I fixed it. There is a flat area on the shaft that the set screw has to tighten into. That was my whole problem.
