Thank you so much for posting your video! My dad passed away a month ago. He always performed maintenance on the lawn equipment. Your step-by-step video gave an excellent how-to for replacing a gas filter. I have a Craftsman T240 riding mower. I looked at the fuel filter, and it is very similar to the Cub Cadet you demonstrated. I will check out your channel for more tips. Thanks again for posting this video!

I'm a 60 yr. old disabled woman and this video walked me right through my project. I was able to do everything in just about an hour (including the oil and oil filter, too). Most of my time was spent watching the video to make sure I was doing it right. I used rags like suggested with two vice grips to clamp the hoses, worked perfectly. I inspected the hoses and clamps and they looked great. Thank you for sharing. I'd don't know what I'd do without youtube and folks like you that show how to DIY and save a bunch of money without having to switch to Geico. LOL Seriously, I have a shop full of tools, so having the tutorial is a great way for lil' o ladies like me to save money by doing the job myself.

Lovely. It's easier if you move the clamps further away from the filter so they don't compress on the filter inlet and outlet hard tubes. Hose clamp pliers are really helpful as they lock closed and don't slip off like needle nose pliers. I find it easier to separate the hose from the filter if I rotate them slightly to overcome the static friction. Don't use a plastic cup to catch the gas as the gas will eat through that in seconds. Guess how I know? :-) I was mainly interested how you pinched off the hoses not seeing great options sold for that purpose specifically.

One of the best things you can do for any small engine is to install a fuel stop inline. You can shut the stop off, crank the engine and left the fuel run out of the line. Also, it is a great aide if you have a flooding engine issue.

Should the filter on a kohler 23hp be full
@dpcrn6 жыл бұрын
My gas is pretty clear, but the mower just suddenly stopped when mowing. I can't get it to start. Just sits and cranks. So I'm thinking something got in the gas and completely blocked the tube. So I guess I will change the filter and just see if that works. Should there be an air bubble showing in that plastic surrounding the filter?
@TightWadDIY6 жыл бұрын
Daniel P. Clark It’s fine if there is air in the filter. Go ahead and change your spark plug too just to rule that out. They are inexpensive.

Andrew Stevens The bumper likely came with the bagging kit. It was on the mower when I purchased it but I never use the bagger because it clogs easily.

It is much better to remove the small clip between the filter and fuel pump holding the line against the engine then you have almost 3 ft of hose to play with

I have a snapper sr1028 10 hp. It will not stay running. I put just a touch of gas in carb. And it starts. Up but when it burns the gas out of carburetor it goes dead. So. I'm not a mechanic lol but. Can you tell me what's wrong. I put a disc style filter on it. I am thinking it's my filter. Cause it didn't have arrows to show the flow. I gonna get new filter with arrows on it. To show the flow. Do you agree
@TightWadDIY4 жыл бұрын
Glenn Perrigin it is air or fuel related. You may have a cracked gas line or clogged fuel filter.
@glennperrigin74314 жыл бұрын
I put brand new fuel line on it. And. I will try a new fuel filter thanks.
@jctoad2 жыл бұрын
That mower uses a gravity feed fuel system and doesn't have a fuel pump. The red disk type filter is right type for that system. It doesn't really matter which way you install it. Installing a filter like the one shown in the video will make fuel delivery more difficult on that mower.
