Great Video John+ crew. Living in Hanoi this SW Hoa Binh and beyond region is my favourite area, hardly any foreign tourists outside Moc Chau and and Ninh Binh, and hardly any VN tourists if uts not a holiday or a dry season weekend. Main road from Hoa Binh to Son La is very good, fun on a big bike for sure. There's two literal mountain top camp spots along thus road (find them for yourselfs) that you can ride to the top of on bikes including big bikes.

Did Saigon to Hanoi last April along the coast and the bike one of your xr150 never missed a beat ,great ride

I just finished watching your "The BEST Vietnam motorbike route" video and North West route was missed out. Thank you for this video, North West route is worth the trip when I plan my trip. P.S, you need to open "Soft Mattress Hotel" ASAP hahaha.

4:33 Looks tricky and rather dangerous. Rain is horrible to ride through even in hot countries. This all shows how you can tour on anything. Lydia did well. First time riding! Excellent review.

Hi Jon centre stand technique is while standing on the centre stand... pull up under the saddle... Just helping life be a little bit easier. 😍

100kg scooter :) No 150kg adventure bike. But sure, technique should be taught correctly. I just stand on the thing and it pulls back.

Agree with treeworks. The technique with anybike is actually to pull up, not back while putting weight on the center stand

Awesome! When I saw you walking the sketchy bamboo bridge, I seriously thought the next move would be taking the Blade over it. I've been to Ta Xua on one of your XR's, but wasn't brave enough to go down the spine on it. By the way, if you look across the valley there, top of the opposite hill - there's an amazing homestay.

I like Ta Xua, an up and coming tourism place. Always rains though.

G'Day Jon am in Halong just did 13 days on XR North east ,no tourists bar Chinese, back along border. Down to Hiagang up to Dong van took bag off and stayed for a few days and hit every skytrail I could find. Did get the iconic cliff photo when there was a Vietnamese couple there. In almost 50yrs of riding was best but most dangerous. Will be in Ho Chi in a few days ,may drop in and say hello. PS Your maps you downloaded for me were invaluable. All the best Steve Cocks
