This rifle is absolutely amazing! My dad recently purchased this rifle in 6.5 as well. Put a Vortex Razor HD Gen ii on it (amazing scope). Broke the rifle in and shot almost .5 moa out of the box. Granted I'm a decent shooter, but someone who knows what they're doing and can replicate great fundamentals will hold even tighter groups, I'm sure of it. At 460 yards the group was 3-3.5 inches. IMPORTANT NOTE!! IF YOU REGISTER YOUR TIKKA WITH THEM, THEY WILL SEND YOU AN ADDITIONAL MAGAZINE FOR FREE! DO IT, THEM SUCKERS ARE $100 IF YOU DONT.

Great video Gary, love the new content. I have this rifle and really like it for all the reasons you mention. I adjusted my trigger down to the stop and estimate it’s about 2lbs, with a very nice break. My best groups are typically 1/3 MOA. Looking forward to stretching it out to 1200 in Long Range 2.

I own that exact rifle in 243 win and I purchased it precisely for the reasons you mentioned. It's light, it's accurate and it has minimal recoil. I also own the Tikka T3X Lite (not the superlite) in 6.5 Creedmoor. One thing I don't like about the superlite varieties is that the barrel heats up really fast. After three shots you start to get flyers on the target. But I guess that's the price you have to pay for an easy to carry rifle. Thanks for sharing!

I just got mine a couple of weeks ago. Just finished the barrel break in and I can tell you that my group was less than 1/2 MOA at 100 yards. The groups will tighten up! The action is as smooth as any 3-4k custom. This is my second Tikka, my other one is a .300 WSM T3 for hunting and the same thing with it. Butter smooth action and great accuracy. I am waiting on my new Arken 6-25x50 FFP which should be here the fiirst of next month. Overall, I am very pleased with the Tikka T3X A1 Tac!

Bought one in 2018. Super, super, super accurate right out of the box. Originally i had a Steiner T5xi 5-25x56 with SCR reticle on it. First time i tried to hit a milk jug at 1,000 yards i used the holds at 18x. I aimed at a clay pigeon in the burm and my DOPE was high so i adjusted my hold and literally hit the jug on the very first shot. Crazy. That was at a range, deep in the forest in GA. I have since moved out to the desert about 3+ yrs ago. Since moving here, i have learned how to shoot in the wind. Totally different experience compared to GA. Way, way harder. Now i have a NF ATACR 7-35x56 with Mil-XT reticle on the Tikka. Just a Totally Awesome optic all the way around... including that reticle. I have hit a soda can at 1,006 yards in 3 shots. I have hit a soda can at 1,380 yards in 14 shots in a 15mph 90 degree cross wind and horrible mirage. I have made all kinds of crazy, difficult shots with the Tikka Tac A1. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Mine is 6.5CM. Don't let the haters dissuade you from the caliber. It is a tremendous caliber. The most recent awesome thing i did... which was not to long ago... was i decided to go for a 5 shot group at 750 yards across a valley and i kid you not... 0.477 MOA or 3.58". I was astonished at how i did... first and only attempt as well. The videos of both soda can hits and the 5 shot, sub 1/2 MOA group at 750 yards are all posted to Long Range Shooters of Utah. I was going to start a channel and put it on as many social media platforms as made sense... but the BLM recently shut down the area i have been shooting the last 3 yrs so i'm really not sure what i'm going to do now. I'm a former US Army Ranger.... i was going to cover some combat medicine... long range shooting... a few reviews of things i like and use in the tactical realm.... but now i may just can all that since my shooting area is no more. Let me also say this... Because the Tikka Tac A1 was so awesome... i purchased a Tikka T3x Super Varmint in 6.5 PRC. The accuracy is nowhere near as awesome as the Tac A1. best i got with 3 different kinds of ammo was 1MOA with Norma Golden Target, which was the slowest of the 3. The whole point of the PRC is that it should shoot about 200 fps faster than a CM, "in theory". Mine wasn't doing that. After all, Tikka's are notoriously "SLOW" shooters. I decided to put "lipstick on a pig" and literally purchased a $1.5k MDT ACC Premier chassis. The accuracy.... well, it didn't improve. So for ALL of you thinking you'll just tinker with the T3X.... go for it... but the Tac A1 with it's heavy ass, rock solid chassis... is where it's at for accurately shooting in the prone or bench... personally, i like shooting in the prone... as i would in the field. If you want PRS balance for obstacles... knock yourself out and get a chassis. I will continue putting lipstick on a pig since i'm going to use this new PRC as my hunting rifle and i'll be getting a Proof Carbon Fiber barrel for it. That should improve accuracy AND speed. I also have to say that i hate the fluted bolt on the Super Varmint. It's wobbly and sloppy feeling. The Tac A1 is rock fucking solid and smooth as silk. I tend to think a wobbly bolt like that may affect accuracy negatively.

Thanks Gary. I'm planning on getting one of these. I have a Savage 110 Precision that I'm selling after a year strictly because I hate the bolt so much. As I posted before, an excellent LR. Every brand of ammo shoots under MOA - no bull. Only 2 minor negatives: (1) the included rail is 0 MOA, (2) metal to metal contact when the stock is folded leaving a scrape mark. By far the smoothest operation of components when compared to other off the shelf LRs. Your client will be not be disappointed.

Thank you Michael! I appreciate the words of encouragement and advice. That’s a great idea. While we’ve had the channel for a couple of years I’ve only just recently got serious about making content for it a few months ago. Basically in 3 months we’ve gone from ~ 100 subscribers to almost 2K now. Sure, I’d like to have 100 times that but after researching, I see there’s channels (with really great content uploaded every week) and see people talking in forums that have a hundred or so after a year or two. So, while I’m not satisfied, I’m thankful for the success we move had. I also think the gun hate at YT likely plays a role. Almost every video is labeled “limited monetization” due to the firearms content. If they limit monetization then it only makes sense the algorithm limits the exposure. But... that’s the field we play on and I knew that going in. Again, thanks for the kind words and I greatly appreciate your support. -Gary

@@michaelcolorado6107 I’d say in reality, we’ve been around for about 3 months. I posted a quick snippet here and there (like 1 - 2 times a year) before that. Regarding a rifle, it’s a good question... both the Savage and the Tikka are compromises in different areas. The Tikka’s action and cycling is much better but the chassis and modularity of the Savage are better than the Tikka. The Savage definitely has the greatest potential but the slightly sloppy action (which causes feeding issues) and the incessant failure to extract and eject is almost unforgivable. The fact that those issues have been ongoing for years and Savage undoubtedly knows about it and has ignored them and the countless customers reaching out about those issues is infuriating. I just got an aftermarket “enhancement kit” that supposedly makes it cycle like it’s supposed to and I’ll be doing a video on it in the next few days. If that $25 fix does indeed fix it, I might let the issue go. If it doesn’t, this channel is going to become very hostile toward Savage. Lmao... I don’t think that’s an actual answer to your question was it? 😂

I looked at building, modifying and all sorts of options, this gun makes a lot of sense with the thought they put into it. Didn't have to buy stuff from 5 different places and then assemble it, all I needed were a scope, rings, a sling and a bag rider, and I put an Arca rail on it. That's about as easy as it gets.

I have this rifle. I really love it. With that said I would not be surprised if the Savage ends up being the better shooter. My tikka is accurate. The barrel is slow on it. It has sped up some with round count. The action is great, as is all Tikka actions. The overall quality of the rifle is really nice. My trigger will adjust down way below what it is supposed to. I’ve had it as low as 1lb. It’s a super great factory trigger. A 1 lb double stage is feather Light on that last stage. So I have it at about 1.5 lbs now. All in all I really like the rifle. With that said, it don’t shoot any better than my RPR, or my Savages. But it is the nicest rifle out of them in my opinion.
@paramounttactical
@paramounttactical 3 жыл бұрын
That’s good insight. I appreciate you sharing. I’m surprised you’re getting better accuracy out of the RPR. Every RPR I’ve either shot (we have one in .308 and many clients have shown up to courses with them) they’ve all been consistently good shooters but hover around .75 MOA. So I’m surprised at your results compared to the Savage ans T3. I also HATE the adjustable stock the RPR. The Magpul PRS fixes that but you shouldn’t have to buy an aftermarket to replace an insufficient component. Have you replaced your Savage extractor? Have you had issues with the Savage cycling?
@halfdollar86
@halfdollar86 3 жыл бұрын
@@paramounttactical. I will be honest. I was never a fan of The RPR before I owned one. I honestly swore I would never own one. I’m almost def not a fan boy of them now either. The only reason I own one is because I stumbled up on a 6cm one when they were trying to fire sell them on clearance. I got it for 750 out the door. I thought heck why not. I’ll try it, if I don’t like it I’ll sell it. I too hate the stock on them. I replaced it with an Magpul prs gen3. I now have the RPR stock on an Ar15 setup for precision shooting. I replaced the trigger with a Timney. Ever single part I bought was on sale by a good margin including the rifle. I took it home and shot some factory ammo and it too was about 3/4 -1 MOA. Then I tried some 108 eld m hand loads. Same results. About 3/4. Then I tried 105 bthp and was about 3/4-1 MOA. I was about ready to just sell it and move on. Then a buddy gave me some 107smk and told me to try them. 🤩 I’m glad I did. It changed that rifle. It turned it a 1/2 MOA on a bad day rifle. And if you are shooting good a 1/3 MOA rifle. I was shocked. My savages have always shot good. They are just shooters. They have making barrels figured out In my opinion. Most every Savage I have owned does suffer from weak ejection though. I’ve just had such good results in the accuracy dept with them that I’m willing to look past those issues.

@@rlsullivan85 yes. I always shoot with a right handed rifle. I grew up with no money and everyone else is right handed in my family. so I was always having to adapt. @@russnurse2b807 I have no experience with a bolt action rifle, I thought I would prefer shooting left handed and working the bolt with my right, now I’m not so sure about it. Am I more likely to mess up my sight picture using my right hand to work the bolt action? I’m use to using the pistol grip on an ar to hold the stock tight to my shoulder pocket, and I thought I would do the same with the tikka. What is your experience with that?

@@rlsullivan85 that's exactly how I do it. I work the bolt with my right hand while I use my left to keep the butt on my shoulder, keep my cheek weld, and keep my field of vision/line of sight so I don't constantly have to adjust. If you watch videos of someone who is right handed shoot they are constantly moving their head and loosing their sight picture. Shooters who are left handed that shoot left handed tend to do the same thing. What I used to see as a disadvantage when I was a kid has turned into an advantage for me. You mentioned you don't have experience with bolt action rifles. I would also suggest next time you go to the riffle range see if someone there will let you shoot theirs. Tikka T3 needs AICS mags as standard. FN forged chrome lined barrels would seal the deal. Better choice in firearm finishes with mandatory teflon coated polished/lapped bolts must be standard offerings. 6.5 Creedmoor not my first choice, but there has always been a fad cartridge getting love. Hornady does load some great rounds for it, if you can afford them. Generally, I think that 6.5 is best covered by 6.5x55 or 6.5x55AI with modern loadings in modern rifles (but if you have an old Mauser and feed it factory 6.5 or load taking into account older metallurgy you're doing fine even with a small ring pre 98). Yes, it gives magnum ballistics for minimal recoil. Despite not delivering the same energy as a magnum, 6.5s are more than adequate within 700M. Barrel life is a concern if you load 6.5s too hot, but the 6.5x55 & 6.5 Creed generally don't experience the barrel burning more powerful 6.5s do. Keep loads in the 2700 - 2900 FPS range and you'll be fine. That being all said, in this age of an artificial ammo and reloading component shortage, most shooters and hunters are better off with a .308 Win. The Tikka T3 for a "budget action" is a fantastic action. Smooth, strong, reliable, well designed (except it can't be top loaded). In my personal ranking of pushfeeds available to most shooters, I rank 1). Tikka T3 2). Remington 700 3). Howa 1500/Weatherby Vanguard. I avoid cheaper and cruder actions like those offered by Savage and the Ruger American. American production (under license?) of Tikka T3s with similar aftermarket support such as the Remington 700 has would crown this rifle as the 21st century "Rifleman's rifle". It's potentially that good. Beretta just needs to get the word out and get the T3 out of ruts which involve such dead-ends as proprietary magazines. Maybe a venerable American gun manufacturer might consider licensing quality production of Tikka T3s: is it time for a Remington Model 800 yet?

I realize that but all cold hammer forged are not equal and when I say tooling marks regarding a hammer forged barrel that’s what I mean. During the editing process I still laugh at myself at all the weird things I say while filming and have to cut out or do a retake at the stupid stuff that comes out of my mouth. Greg, It's what the RPR should be. The terrible stock the RPR comes with gives me real heartburn at how poorly it's designed (I have one as a student gun). You pretty much have to buy a replacement aftermarket stock for it IMO so that's another $200 I would immediately add to the cost. There is literally nothing I don't like about the Tikka. Everything feels premium on it and the action is probably the best production action I've ran, although the Bergara is either a tie or a close second to the Tikka's action, but the Bergara isn't nearly as nice overall. If I had a choice between the two I'd go with the Tikka 10 out of 10 times. Guns are long term the extra money spent will be long forgotten... buyers remorse to save a few bucks is also long term. I know that I wasn't going wrong since I already owned two other Tikkas in different calibers. FYI - I attended my first Long Range shooting class in PA this past weekend. I noted that when getting down to the last two or three rounds in the mag, the tip of the rounds would orient themselves nose down resulting in a failure to feed. this occurred on every unmodified factory mag. @@paramounttactical so what's wrong with protecting a customers rifle finish by covering your rings while handling their rifle?

@@Jaygorski oh there’s nothing wrong with it. I’ve just been handling rifles at professional level for almost 20 yrs and not once have I marred a finish with my wedding ring. I just love having complete novices like you providing solutions to problems that don’t exist🤡. Don’t you think if that was a problem that it would be a self-remedying one? Don’t you think if i marred a client’s gun with a ring that I would not wear it going forward? Or do think I mar client’s guns all the time or intermittently with my ring but my response is “fuck it... it ain’t mine”? I just find it hilarious how people with little or no experience suddenly have life changing epiphanies while watching a YT video on how to do something that the video creator does for a living day in and day out and feel an irresistible need to provide coaching tips. How do I know that you’re a novice? Because a professional with real experience wouldn’t point to a problem that isn’t there. Next time take advantage of experience and simply ask “why do you wear a ring, couldn’t it mar a gun?”. You’ll learn a lot more and generally be more successful by not going through life as a know-it-all. Instead of being humble or intentionally receptive while watching my videos (or other professionals in a field), feel free to parse through them and sharpshoot any and everything else you can find that you disagree with. I’m sure we’ll both be better for it. 🙄

They are expensive but there was nothing shitty about them. And... they give you two. I was shocked at their price tag though. But they fed well and ran like butter. I do appreciate you watching and hope to see your colorful impressions in the comments often! Thanks, Gary

@@paramounttactical Wait till you use them extensively. Weak spring, the bullet will start dipping down. I have a trg 6.5 and a tac a1 and the mags are the weak point on those platform...

@@Hellvoisin that’s fair as I don’t have long term experience with them. I appreciate you sharing that info and will look into it further! 🇺🇸
