Excellent shooting with the crazy wind blowing the empty cases around on the bench and 28 degree temp. The targets look bigger in the video than they really are. Target 8: 5 shots inside the ½” ring and 9 shots inside the ½” ring on target 10. That is hard to do with the flyers that are in some lots of the Eley Match ammunition on a good day. JD

Yeah JD sure glad you noticed and obviously you know targets and shooting well. I say that from a perspective of being told I suck all the time with people not truly knowing how large the targets are due to me being zoomed in so close. Not bashing others but they don't show close ups of the targets and their groups look WAY smaller. That is also the other reason I always post a written article that shows the actual group sizes dayattherange.com/?p=10310 -- I try to get the best footage I can including zooming way in on the targets. JD have a safe New Years celebration and a healthy prosperous new year.

I have the same set up as Diggy Bell except a Zeiss scope. Over six hundred rounds and not one failure to feed or extract . I have heard others say they had to do some work on theirs . Thanks for all those foot prints in the snow!!

Favorite episode of Sanford and Son was when Fred and Aunt Esther were handcuffed together having dinner eating corn on the cobb. Aunt Esther said "I would like some butter on my end." Fred replied with" Yeah but what do you want on your corn?"

The Tikka T1x is a very good choice 👌 I'm shooting one also, have it in KRG Bravo stock and Sterk bolt handle. I have changed trigger spring, and this thing is laser accurate with Lapua, SK, Eley Team, and Match. It doesn't like RWS and as proven already Norma 😒. My Tikka has about 7k rounds through the barrel and is still super accurate. 👌 Good luck with it. I can't wait for more videos. Keep up the good work. Regards from Ireland 🇮🇪.

I picked up a Bergara B-14r Carbon and have it in an MDT ESS with a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50. It'll throw down less than .3" groups with ease. It almost can't miss on steel at 200. At 350 I have to do my part with West Texas winds, but the rifle will does it's job. The flexibility of the R700 footprint and MDT are icing on the cake.

@@Dayattherange Absolutely zero. I have seen some people need to stake their ejector due to ejection issues, but mine has never given me an issue at the range or in a match. I think darrondb had to stake his, but it was a simple process.

Have a Happy New Year Eli. As for the next one to purchase... there is a huge amount of aftermarket support for the CZ457 crowd. But, if i want to start out with a gun i don`t have mess with to much, Tikka is hard to beat, for the money. And the aftermarket support is picking up for the Tikka`s now. Bargara, not for me. I still see to many flaws with it for me to spend that kind of money on one, then take a chance that it will run right, or have to send it back to get it fixed right. At least with a CZ or a Tikka, you won`t have to send either one back to have it fixed. I own SEVERAL versions of the CZ457`s, no regrets.

Heck yeah the wind matters! I had sent you a target a while back with a few 0.15 to 0.2 groups with my CZ pro Varmint. I withheld from posting it because it was shot indoors. It gave me a good idea what the rifle could do. I got a question for you and the range fans. Say I have two rifles that shoot equally well indoors in ideal conditions. Is it feasible that one would shoot better in the wind? Or am I just making excuses? Also I have one that does not group as well as others at 50, but beats them all at 100. Anyone else ever see this? Happy new year all!
@Dayattherange
@Dayattherange 2 жыл бұрын
I would not say better in the wind but I have seen some rifles shoot better in hot vs cold conditions though like your 100 yard question. I believe the most to figuring out this game is the right ammo in the right conditions of cold vs hot. So it may not have been wind at all and more about the actual temperature.

Who goes out in those temps to shoot a few rounds? One way to beat the crowd with there new toys. I suggest a CZ 457 MTR, since you already have the earlier CZ models. Mine shoots SK Long Range and Eley match equally well. You will not regret it. The palm swell stock is eye candy.

The only reason you need trigger shims is either, the rifle is worn out or it hasn't been set up properly during the manufacturing process. Do us all a big favor and go straight to the top, "ANSCHUTZ." You won't have to waste time shimming with a new 17 series. Feed it a good batch of Lapua X-Act and you won't shoot a group over 1 hole. 👌
@Dayattherange
@Dayattherange 2 жыл бұрын
I have always been told if you can't afford a 54 then don't bother and is it still the top with Vudoo on the market now? Its ok to disagree about the shims, with so much variability and no standard in rim thickness again for me consistency is key.
@audieladd2476
@audieladd2476 2 жыл бұрын
@@Dayattherange No! Please don't take it the wrong way, I believe that you've made an incredible discovery in showing us all how the shims can change an ordinary rifle into something special, however, if you go straight to a 54 Annie or a Vudoo, you shouldn't have to shim because you don't have to fix what isn't broken? They're manufactured to tight tolerances with plenty of love. Keep up the great work, I always look forward to your videos before all of the others. Happy New Year.

@@Dayattherange mine has had none. Most of the guys with issues have changed the factory stock, at which point you just need adjustable mags like the ones L3I makes. You do need to stake the ejector, but after that they are 100%. And i promise that after the first box of ammo you put threw it you will be in love. I also own a cz457 and am telling you the honest truth the B14R is more accurate.
