I agree. He’s Canadian. I’m in Canada & I’ve used a contingency lawyer in the past. A lawyer shouldn’t take a case unless they think they can possibly win. I won & my lawyer took 20%. We never even had to see the inside of a court room. I think what Janet is doing is illegal & can get herself disbarred. If she’s doing that xtra work & thinks she can go ahead & charge for it she needs to inform her client what she’s doing with the case. I’ve had lawyers on retainer & was careful of even calling to ask a question because I knew I’d be charged for a call. They make contingency lawyers for a reason. You don’t have the money up front they cover you.

Dude I found the response about the trade dress application. Apparently she was trying to get trade dress rights to use the colors pink and blue in the category of makeup primers. Which is not a thing...Like it seems she didn't apply for the whole packaging (which is a thing) but just colors which can technically be a thing but is very difficult to get. Typically it has to be something that is ubiquitous with the brand generally. Like Tiffany Blue is one. Even huge companies get this thrown out regularly. So she charged you to not do the trade dress correctly, then tried to charge you for her trying to fix her own eff up. Definitely seems like she's just trying to get as much money as possible without actually doing anything useful.

My daughter is 17 and has a severe allergy to PG (propylene glycol). It will cause chemical burn type rashes and she can go into anaphylaxis. I also have this allergy. We have a genetic autoimmune disorder that makes us, especially her, sensitive to a lot of things. Finding makeup that doesn’t do this is difficult…I have to but specific cleaning products also. Her friend gifted her some of your makeup products and she absolutely loves them! It’s one of the only ones that she can wear. I’m disabled so when I can I do pick up a couple for her but thank you for putting such care into your products.

Here from Runkle of the Bailey's channel. Solidarity ✊ In the UK, and not a lawyer, her billing sheet is rather interesting vs the contract. Her contract did not say she could give advice on ingedients etc. She's not a cosmetic chemist. She's not qualified to comment. Her billing info suggests she was researching ingredients. I don't think the contract covers her doing the work of a paralegal or junior. How much did she charge for googling? I assume cosmetic chemistry is a legally protected title and profession. If she was giving advice or researching outwith the legal boundary of her contract, and legal training, then she may be in breach of laws relating to professions. I know your complaint got bumped from the law regulators as a fee dispute but if she was charging for advice outside the boundary if the contract relating to expertise eg cosmetic chemist, then i assume you can complain in that issue. You should complain to your representative. In the UK I would complain to my MP. I assume in US it is congressperson or senator.
