i feel kinda bad for the people who get caught up in fashion trends-they never get the chance to think about their personal style, since once you have that figured out, you actually end up being really happy with what’s currently in your closet and also feel happier with what you wear everyday!
@jungyaru

I don't know. I've liked a lot of fashion trends in the past few years, like the whole y2k wave. I feel like trends help people find their own style, like I do. I like a lot of different styles though so maybe that's why I have my own style..And I never liked the clothes I used to wear. I always liked wearing different clothes, trending or not.

These trends can help people find their Fashion identities. My sister in law hopped on the Y2K fashion train in 2020 as she graduated HS and she hasn’t gotten off since because that’s just who she is 🤷🏾‍♀️ What gives a trend depth is its subculture I think. The activities you partake in when you’re not on social media, the movies you watch, the music, the community. It’s not all dark side.

Yes comparing my self to strangers in a video knowing it's clipped and edited and they do it for content but I still did it. I was asking my mom should I be scrubbing my walls every week? Should I put filler in my face? Am I not doing enough in my life? the depression it can cause is real

The last girl really summed it up perfectly. I think people over consume because they want to fill some void in their life. I’m an emotional shopper and I always feel guilty after I buy something that I didn’t truly want or planned for. Seeing hauls gives me anxiety because it reminds me of how I use to spend and that makes me sick. I’ve been working on shopping more intentionally but it’s a work in progress and I do still make mistakes from time to time which is ok, since it’s a learning process. I don’t like when people say that people are hating on creators because they wish they had all that stuff 😂 I’m sorry but the more stuff you have the more space it takes up in your home and your mind. And the more time it takes to up keep. No thank you!

The problem is more about what it’s made of- usually polyester which sheds microplastics in the home and in the environment and I’m guilty too, I had a lot of cheap fashion clothes but the material is made from oil and is plastic instead of cotton, linen or wool so it’s not very good for anyone to wear.

Influencers are abusing the good will of the stores when they had lenient return policies and now they just can't have them anymore because they don't want to deal with the shrink!*

Trends are ridiculous! Just go with what works for you, embrace how unique you are, made in God’s image! I never thought I would’ve get a Stanley myself but I saw a vintage Barbie design I like however part of the inside lid looks like not fully nice looking new so I’m a bit upset about that but I can stay hydrated with more water. I haven’t seen it hold ice longer yet but mostly those who had these Stanley cups longer do have bigger ice they put in their cup. I also appreciate the handlebar so I don’t drop my water bottle. I could not believe the wild behavior in order to get the cup in store/ hearing people say how children got this for Christmas. These children are spoiled and I feel like they shouldn’t know what a Stanley cup is nor skin care. They should just enjoy their childhood without trying to get what is the latest thing or what is mainly for adults more than what they think is for them. Overconsumption is concerning. Whatever isn’t used shouldn’t be wasted. If it’s not needed then pray for self-control on to not buy what is not needed.

I hate when people do things only because it's trending and not because they actually like or need it. However, the 2020 alt trend introduced me to a lot of different styles that I like today, so it's not always a bad thing. The whole y2k trend has nonetheless inspired people to dress cooler, at least.

My frustration is that I don’t even have TikTok and I still can’t escape it. I primarily use Instagram and they are working sooooo hard to make the platform just like TikTok. There have been so many small changes lately to match the functions and look to TikTok and it’s really off-putting. I have to search for posts that aren’t reels from creators I follow because the reels are so heavily pushed now. I’m getting less and less interested in social media all together lately and find myself gravitating back towards long-form content on KZbin

I know this will age me ;no problem I'm not a shamed 50 & fabulous .When I see all of these influencers "selling" products, it reminds me of QVC/HSN channel that used to come on TV back in the day 🤣🤣. For many years those informercials(that's what they were called informational commercials) is what these videos remind me of. They had past generations buying things they didn't need. 🤣 So in other words nothing is new and all this is ,is history repeating itself. Great video like always👍🏾

This is one of the myriad of reasons I don’t have Tok tok! But also we need to start teaching young children (and honestly some adults) about social media literacy. Once I realized that it’s just a reel of everyone highlights, stopped following most beauty/lifestyle influencers, most famous people, and people who made me feel bad about myself my instagram be chill ha ha. It’s honestly human nature to compare yourself to others, but not at tonthe point that social media allows you to.

My problem with overconsumption is because it attributes a lot to global pollution. All those short-lasting mostly plastic things and fast fashion that would be thrown away with first new trends is creating large piles of garbage which can not disintegrate and it's hard to get rid of. Polluting everything. Which is why we all need to promote buying quality stuff that will last for long long time. Like people used to before. Decades or even hundred years ago things were produced to last, not to be ditched after few years or months. That's why everything is full of garbage now. Maybe it's time, for the sake of the Earth, for influencers to promote things that will last, that are quality, that at very least, can be sold or given away and not just tossed into trash.

I’ve realized people loveee to profit off things they naturally have and are just within their genetics. So many give credit to products in order to promote them and make money off people and it’s so upsetting. I swear there are so many girls who have clear skin naturally or a slim figure and will accredit that to expensive skin care products, overpriced health foods, and different supplements that are not essential. I think people are almost ashamed nowadays to be like yea I’m just naturally skinny instead of saying they work out and drink green juice everyday and that’s why they are skinny or have an athletic figure, just for example. Almost as if they are afraid of being called a “pick me” or “fraud” out of someone else’s own insecurities.

Restocking videos are my LEAST favorite. The slamming, clicking, tapping noises are so obnoxious. It feels like rage bait to me. I guess some people like that oversensitive mic emphasizing tip-tapping acrylic nails on bottles but I certainly don't! It's like when people do packing videos and they're slamming down their packing cubes and zipping and rezipping them aggressively for the sound effects. What are we doing? Why is this a thing? Also the AI voices. If I hear that old woman or snotty girl voice ONE MORE TIME 🤯.

Therapy is not going to fix all your problems and its not necessary for getting to a better place mentally. I am not bashing therapy its extremely helpful if its an option and works out but the modern world has created unrealistic expectations of what therapy is going to accomplish and puts way too much of a emphasis on therapy being an essential part of being able to heal, leading people to believe they can't move forward without it. In my personal experience the biggest thing you need to do to move forward is going to sound a bit insensitive but you need to stop feeling sorry for yourself. Everybody is going to ave days where they are going to feel like "woe is me my life is so hard." because life is hard. but allowing yourself to dwell on how miserable you feel is just going to deepen the feelings of misery and is only hurting you. Instead refocus on some form of longform entertainment that is completely inconsequential. Cartoons are great for this as they are usually very low stakes. Video games can also be good for this. its not a waste of time its preventing you from get stuck in a pit of misery. don't completely stop thinking about the things that are issues by watching cartoons all day but do refocus your energy towards the cartoons or whatever everytime your thoughts are no longer feeling productive.

I do watch cartoons as I agree they do help switch off and I enjoy how fun and positive they are, I am a mum and I have 2 dogs I do things with my son and my dogs and partner but I feel like there is something else I need to do in my life because I feel stuck in the same cycle, I don’t have much time to myself which is fine but I find it hard to find something that I can do that makes me feel relaxed or happy, or I struggle to find the motivation or energy to do something as I’m so drained.

@@alexablake576think of the long term benefits of buying though. there is none so yes while in the moment it seems cheaper and easier it won’t set you up in the long run what you really need to do is search deep within and ask yourself what are you trying to fill / avoid alot of answers come from sitting in silence i bet you’ll get the answers need on what you need to do moving forward also try to replace buying with doing things that actually bring you joy what made you happy as a kid and research on how you can incorporate this into your life

Well I'm kind of different. The Stanley cups was never my thing. I don't own tick tock KZbin is my safe space but if I have interest in different things that's where my money goes. I don't worry about trends. I worry about what works too or what I want to try at that time always try to stay in my Lane
