As someone who's shown many English speaking friends around Germany, I had to explain the "Wir suchen dich!" A LOT of times... The fact that most people who never "really" learned German or only had in school and thus can't properly pronounce "ch" or "sch" makes me wonder if the teachers teaching German somewhere else ever make the effort to explain or teach the pronunciation...

Been learning German at school for 7 years now, and my teachers have always put (at least some) emphasis on proper pronunciation. The accuracy of our pronunciation makes up part of the marks for speaking tests, and you can’t do the listening tests if you don’t understand the accent and the way Germans speak.

I still pick up things from the shower floor with my toes if I drop something. I love the tiny items, though then you get the people showing that they ordered what they thought was a normal couch or rug and it comes for a doll house... I am compelled to foxes, cats, and dragons, but I have to be careful in pet shops because I have 3 cats and keep wanting to get a lizard or snake (I inherited my Dad's cat after having 2 already). My toe-grabbing phase has gone on for my entire life. I open doors and turn on/off lightswitches with my feet when my hands are full. Usually while carrying an armload of laundry. The deaf/autistic child signs are for drivers, so they know to be more cautious on the street, because a Deaf child in the street won't hear the car coming and won't respond if you honk (for example). There's one in my neighborhood that says something like "Blind Person in Area."

I am truly sorry for your loss! My sincere condolensces to you, your friend can't be replaced but I hope some day soon you will find comfort and joy in another person. I lost my best friend 15 years ago to an overdose, And I still find myself thinking about him especially around the anniversary of the time of his death. I don't even realize it, it's just that I'll find myself thinking about him a lot and all of a sudden I'll remember this is the month he died.I have been able to let new people grow close to me and even love them but no one has ever replaced his amazing sense of humor, his creativity, and love of life that he had... And he cared about me in a way that always made me feel like I was the most special girl in the world and we had a secret club of jokes that were just for us! Even though he was an amazingly outgoing person and could make friends with anyone I felt special that he made friends with me. I have a hard time sometimes telling when some one asks a question to be funny or actually doesn't know the answer so just in case you actually wanted to know.... Some places put up signs like the "deaf kid area" one to let drivers know to be extra careful in those areas because the disability could affect the child(ren)'s ability to stay safe if they're near the road. While most kids might be still learning about road safety, the disabilities that might be put on one of those signs can make it even harder for kids that have them. I.E. how is someone supposed to look both ways before crossing the street if they're visually impaired? If a child suddenly runs into the middle of the road, you might honk your horn as you slam on the breaks in hope of scaring the kid back off the road, but what if they can't hear you? The sign is pretty much a "Warning, pay more attention when driving through here"

“Wir suchen dich” actually is literally translated to “We are looking for you” and isn’t pronounced “we sucken dick”, but “we’re sujen dish” (that j is kind of a hissing noise as in jalapeño). It is often used to say that someone is hiring though.

I still do the monkey toe-grip thing. My partner heavily cringes every time cus he somehow can't do it (I have watched him struggle attempting it before) and that still baffles me to this day XD
