Probably to give him a chance to tell his side of the story: If so that's admirable of the gym owners as people, if entirely incorrect as business owners and curators of a "public" space. Another scenario I can think of would be that the gym owners thought it best to consult with legal advice before acting, given the relatively high profile nature of the events - though you'd imagine if that were the case, they'd at least suspend the aggressor (if not both parties) whilst this was ongoing. Again, not the *right* thing as far as my moral compass is concerned, but arguably the sensible and cautious thing. Finally there's the profit motive: I imagine both of these gentlemen serve as excellent marketing opportunities for the gym, and ideally they would prefer not to lose either party and wished to try and "resolve the situation amicably" so as to minimise risk of financial damage from any fallout. I think the last one, or some combination of all three, to be the most likely reason. I think that's supported by the fact that the gym acted once this blew up outside of the gymbro community.

You're not wrong about roid rage , obviously it's a thing, but SO MANY people compete in strength sports, bodybuilding, etc. without losing their shit and attacking people. In fact, many of them remain very kind and reasonable people despite their PED use.
