Holy hell, that looked like SO much more than $300K! Also, just why the hell would they think they could get away with only paying a quarter of the rent 😂 like bruh literally all of that is on the record in contracts and bank statements, and as far as courts are concerned the paper trail is more concrete than the actual video evidence, y'all are absolutely screwed 🤣

This is the mind of kids who don't give a crap, think they're cool and do what they want because they think they're old enough to know everything. My brother was the same. My mum was working 24 hour shifts to keep up with the mortgage, because she dreamed of owning her own home. My brother and his friends trashed the place when he was 16, and I don't know why. It's like he thought he was a king with this house that was "his". My mum let the place go to the bank after a while. If she paid off the mortgage she would have needed to work even longer hours to pay for the repairs. The same happened when I was 17. Mum left the flat she rented after, and my brother had different friends. I got kicked out by him. He got kicked out a year later for not paying rent. Now, 13 years late, he's been crashing on my sofa for the past 2 years, because he's struggling to even find someone to rent from, because of the rent and council tax debt he's in. Also, my place is a shit hole, because he's accustomed to his own mess and he doesn't see anything wrong with it. I'm kicking him out in March. That's enough time for him to find somewhere. I can finally decorate and make this place look and feel like home for once.

That ceiling damage looks like water damage from above - I let a friend stay with me a few years ago and their wife took a bath upstairs and kept the water on so it just kept flowing over the sides of the tub, the water did something similar to the painted ceiling below. I wasnt mad at them at first until I asked them to be more mindful and my friend responded back with messages that were practically essays in fb messenger about how I needed to watch my tone and how I was stressing them out. That is my limit and those mf’ers are long gone and blocked on everything from fb to pokemon go.

Given that he's renting out a fully furnished $6 million home in the Hollywood hills, I assume that he has plenty of money and $600k is little more than a mild inconvenience to him With that said, though, I think the kids should be on the hook for every penny of damage, plus more to account for the owner's wasted time and efforts. The time it takes to repair the house is time that the owner can't monetize by renting it out to other people. These kids likely have a lot of money too, so they need to be hit hard enough in their wallets to dissuade them from ever pulling shit like this again

As a home owner, you have to be really careful who you rent to, because there are always bad renters, who will destroy and who won’t pay. It’s obvious that the owner has a case and will most likely win in court, but he’s not likely to see any money soon and getting professional help to come in to fix the house won’t come cheap. The worst part is that he can’t rent the house until it is fixed, so again lost revenue for all the time that this house remains empty.

Can they garnish the profits for the show? That alone will cut into the incentive for anyone to bankroll these kinds of shows. (Yes - treble damages is a thing, and can be applied to property damage - it's part of how cutting down one tree belonging to someone else can cost you over a quarter of million dollars)

I rented out a room in my dad's house for him, and we literally had to replace the carpet in the room they rented out because they left a massive pile of trash, with no bag, just piled in a corner of the room. We had to repaint the room also because it smelt like a dumpster. And they only rented the room for like 2 months. During that time, they also broke the toilet in the bathroom they were using, and idk what they did, but ever since they rented a room, the bathroom pipes make a super high pitch noise, it'll go away temporarily when I flush the toilet, but it's basically nonstop. Also, we had to replace the kitchen counter tops because there was stains all over it, and they would somehow melt the kitchen counters. They said it was from them making coffee, but idk how that would happen, it was like 1-2inch burn marks, some of which were SUPER deep, they also warped the countertop, im assuming from whatever heat source they were using, but I honestly don't know. I knew they weren't gonna be good roommates/tenants when they left dirty dishes all over the kitchen the first night they stayed here, but I didn't realize they were going to totally ruin the kitchen, a bathroom, and the room they rented.

I worked in property management and for houses like this we did two things: 1. Ask for a very high damage deposit. 2. Ask for a high furniture damage deposit. But of course we also never recommended renting these homes long term because this type of stuff happens regularly. If you can buy a home and decide to rent, usually the reason is to avoid the responsibility. The landlord should actually not be surprised, if he is, that's his fault. We always told our clients to be prepared for this.

My dad's tenants did this to his house whilst he was suffering from cancer. When they finally moved out, because we wouldn't replace the mattresses they had fucked flat, they stole some of our furniture, didn't pay the last month's rent or clean the house (left masturbation tissues stuffed down the side of the bed) and left the windows open no doubt hoping someone would come in to squat. They didn't pay any of their utility bills and so all the debts reverted to my dad who was so shocked by it that he died 4 months later. This is even after they were renting the house as a 5 bedroom but had turned one of the reception rooms into an addition bedroom and had 10 people sharing the already discounted rent. They were all immigrants to the UK and left and went back to their native lands so there was nothing to be done. No hunting them down... legally. This is why I resent hearing crap out evil landlords, because I have experienced disgusting POS tenants. We never had a nice tenant in 10 years. Even the previous set stole our furnishings.
