'Til Tuesday, or what was left of it, perform "Rip in Heaven," then chat briefly with Dave. With Aimee Mann and Michael Hausman. And John Bryant sitting in on guitar.

What a brilliant, tragically underrated album. Same with "Welcome Home". This band deserved better. At least, it introduced Aimee's talent in a major way.

Everything's Different Now is my favorite of the 3 albums. Interesting that she ended up with Michael Penn, an equally gifted songwriter who also had a strained relationship with his label.

I hope you are better and I agree her music is emotionally comforting. Aimee Mann can't cure illness but she always makes me smile. 😃 She is seriously underrated and very attractive and appealing. She should have been as be as big as Madonna.

I love this band so much that my daughters' names are Aimee and Jules. And just by sheer coincidence, my daughter Aimee ended up attending the same high school that Aimee Mann attended in Midlothian, Virginia.

Such a fantastic album to bring til tuesday to a close. The lyrics are rather sad throughout the whole album as it speaks of things ending. Very similar to the Electric Light Orchestra's final album in 1986, Balance of Power....

This was the beginning of the end for 'Til Tuesday. Sad because I grew up in Massachusetts and was following them back in 1983 before they hit it big. Also Love in a Vacuum was a huge hit with constant radio station airplay here in New England. But rest of the country met Til Tuesday with Voices Carry. It was kinda their own demise putting out Welcome Home. They went against the grain of mangement and MTV kind of music. Aimee didn't want to change. Hence, band members left. Seen her many times afterward doing solo shows and she's more folk type of music now. She still puts on a great show. I believe she lives out in the Berkshire Mountains in Western Mass.

She became like Joni Mitchell true to your own artist voice, not a malleable product of marketing for The Moment trends. It took a lot for Aimee to become liberated, with all her powers, which took a toll. She is so sweet in this guest appearance, so uncertain about her future but knowing she could not longer be stirred off direction and not listen to her own heart drum. I also was in Mass during that magical period, heard them so many times in the early 80's Boston but never saw them (only some time after but in England, how odd) and she became my instant own fave voice above any other alive I could hear, and there were hundreds of great female vocalists then. So curiously too... it was not long after my childhood fave singer, Karen Carpenter (a voice I still hear inside me like no other greater or better singer) passed away, dragged by Social issues of image affecting the psyche, like so many victims it has taken. Among many great female singers or male singers for others, it comes once in Life one that reaches you closer than any other, so close.. closer than close, you get to hear her inside as if one's own angel voice. And Aimee has that Gift into me. *THANK YOU, A.*, if you ever read this in some boring day revisiting old gigs.

It took me 2 years to see the replies to this comment. 😂 Here’s Aimee talking about this in her own words from an interview a few years ago: “The record company was wildly uninterested because, in a kind of classic form, a new A&R had come in. He didn’t like anything the other A&R guys did and he was like, “there’s a new sheriff in town.” And he just immediately scuttled the record - the record was scuttled instantly. I remember we suggested to the record company, we were like, “it’s kind of all acoustic guitar songs. Why don’t we go around to radio stations and play songs with the acoustic guitar?” They were like, “no, nobody does that, that’s unheard of.” And of course, like, you know… We couldn’t get [the label] to do anything. They were really uninterested. I remember talking to radio stations and they were like, “oh, you have a new record out? [The record company] didn’t even send it to us.” They really wouldn’t even put it in the fu**ing mail!”

You might want to check your album credits, because Robert Holmes plays guitar on every track on "Everything's Different Now". Some of his finest playing, I think. It was only Joey, the original keyboardist, who wasn't on the record. I saw them touring the record in Philly in 1988 and Robert was not on tour with them. It was Jon Brion, Buddy Judge, Robert Houseman, and Aimee. The song "Long Gone Buddy"was written about Buddy Judge, I believe.

For me, EDN has always been substantially their best album. Better, more consistent songwriting, less new wave, and less ethereal production, which all presage Aimee's later work.

She should have been the "new wave pop alternative" Madonna or something like that. Seriously underrated and unknown for such pure talent. She's sort of the poster child for how terrible record studios a can be picking and choosing stars.

Record Executives SUCK Big Donkey Dick!! I remember when they told Aerosmith that their 9Lives Album had to be done over, which in turn delayed the Album release. Reason; it was too much Steven Tyler! WTF does that mean? Do the executives even know who Steven Tyler is? STEVE IS AEROSMITH!!!

You insult Aimee when you compare her to Madonna. Very different style. Very different sound. Very different personality. Very different reason for making music. Madonna is so shallow. Aimee Mann has real depth. Madonna is just a gimmick. Aimee Mann has a thoughtful heart.
