I think most tenors can sing into the 6th octave so I’m sure he can
@Ven-zg3fj4 жыл бұрын
@@robbiedozier2840 The tenor ceiling is a C5, not a C6. Soprano range is middle C (C4) to C6. Tenor and Soprano define ranges of notes, not people. If you know a lot of tenors who can hit C6, they have grown their voices exceptionally. Most tenors I know certainly cannot hit C6 (maybe going way up into head voice?)
@robbiedozier28404 жыл бұрын
@@Ven-zg3fj Many people consider “tenor range” to be C3-C5 but that’s only two octaves and it says nothing about the biological limits of someone’s voice, it’s just a guide for people writing opera parts and has no relevance to contemporary music. I think the reason that there aren’t many men who can sing a C6 is because for some reason men are taught that training their head voice is a waste of time.
@robbiedozier28404 жыл бұрын
@@Ven-zg3fj words like tenor and soprano are also used for voice types. It’s also true that those terms mean different things depending on who you’re talking to; yet another piece of evidence that vocal pedagogy is a hopeless quagmire of inconsistency
@Ven-zg3fj4 жыл бұрын
@@robbiedozier2840 agreed lol. it's useful for composition, but I like to think of them more as common comfort ranges and starting points. Most trained singers can't really be defined by this terminology since so many have 3 octaves or more. That's part of why I don't like to classify Tilian as a tenor. He certainly has both more and higher range than a typical "tenor"
