Andy is a 6th generation farmer from Central Illinois. On this farm, Andy works alongside his father, Marty, his uncles, Chris and Jeff, and his sister, Katie, to grow corn and soybeans on some of the finest dirt in the world. Andy and his family are deeply rooted in the area, operating a large farm that traces it origins back into the 1800s. Although some tracts did not stand the test of time, Andy and his family still grow corn and soybeans on fields that have been in the family for longer than even the oldest members of the farm have been alive. We do, we have, and we always will take tremendous pride in calling this piece of paradise our home. Andy was a Bronze Tablet graduate of the University of Illinois in the field of Crop Sciences, following the same path as his father and late grandfather.
It would be misleading for Andy to claim that this life is one that came by chance; rather, as a member of two multi-generational farm families, it was simply in his blood. His passion for agriculture traces back to his early youth--some of his fondest, earliest memories being of days spent riding in the combine with his father and grandfather. Although his understanding of the lifestyle was much less complex in the beginning, the love he has for farming, and its industry has only appreciated through time. As this dream blossomed into adulthood, Andy now works relentlessly, and tirelessly, to chase his own dreams and to build a farming operation of his own alongside his family.
We, as a whole operation, are handymen, electricians, mechanics, landscapers, accountants, economists, caretakers, stewards, and, most importantly, farmers, and we take an incredible amount of pride in our work. There is no challenge too overwhelming, no situation too stressful, and no problem too difficult for us to take on, and we want to take you along with us. Hi can you please please please answer my qeustion? Let say i have planted maise for silage (food for cows) there is always corn stocks left in the field. Can i use this equipment to destroy that ? But i have 20 cm below the ground arrigation (dripling) lines Will this equipment destroy my under ground arrigation lines?

I am not qualified to answer your question. I have no experience with irrigation lines. If this implement was running just on the top 6-7 cm, I don't think it would hurt your lines.

What is the difference between a Vertical Tillage tool and a disc? Non-farmer here.

At the end of the day, they are very similar. A vertical tillage disc is much less aggressive than a standard disc. The gang angles aren't as large, and the individual blades are close together. Essentially, this creates more cutting and less soil flipping, especially if you don't work as deep. It also has a rolling basket on the back to crumble up the slabs resulting in a finished product that you could definitely plant into. A lot of farmers are moving towards them versus a tradition disc ripper or even standard disc. The Deere 2660VT in this video is an incredible VT, arguably the best in the industry right now. It is also very expensive, so the added cost doesn't necessarily justify the small increase in quality and adjustability versus the competition. I hope that helps a little bit.

I don't know if you have watched Larson Farms, but they have a tillage implement they tried. and I think it was called a Sulford? it appeared to work very nice in mixing and chopping up corn, bean, and other organic material. Might try one of those implements if you can get your hands on one. Would also make a great video to do in comparison with other fall tillage equipment.

Yes I have seen that tool and their videos. It appears to be that the enforcer is doing a slightly different job than our vertical till. It is moving more soil and leaving a rougher finished product. Up in Minnesota, they need to expose as much of the black soil as possible for spring warming. We have no shortage of warmth, so we do not need to accomplish the goal alone. It does look great, and I’d love to try on!

You could to aerate the soil and remove weeds, but it is unnecessary. I will plant straight into it after a burn-down sprayer pass.

We are looking at trading out 2012 8335r on a 2019 8370r how is the ride at 7 mile an hour with our tractor with the ils suspension it hard to stay in the seat

At 10mph, it was smooth even across washes in the field. I was holding on going across them and was very surprised that it wasn’t rough. If we were upgrading 8R tractors, the ILS would be a must-have.

Whats your decision for not ripping a piece versus ripping? Thought vertical till was for cowboys in South Dakota. Anybody run the 2680HSD over there? DakotaKid John

A lot of people still do run disk-rippers. It seems that the benefit of them has been overstated. A lot of farmers, even on the black dirt, have stopped working so deep without any yield loss. It can still turn the soil black and cut up residue enough to allow for spring warming. We are also very south in Illinois-warm weather starts in March some years. I ran a 2680 last fall on a demo. The machine did a decent job, but it broke down twice in 40 acres. The disks are all held on by individual bushings, which is a lot that can go wrong. One of those broke, and I blew a hydraulic line folding it up to leave the field. It’s not a good look when you have that many problems, so I’d probably opt for Degelman’s version until Deere perfects their recipe. A lot of these tools do the same thing in a slightly different way.... however you want to spend your money!

None farmer here, but at 12 deg of gang angle and the lower speed haven't you just turned this into a traditional disk?

We run ivt in an older 8235r and love it. We use the tractor for everything from mowing barditches to plowing fields

I could see it being useful in many different places. It vertically takes a bit of adjusting compared to a power shift. It was harder to figure out going down the road!

@@aTrippyFarmer that’s one thing I remember hearing back when it was a new thing was people hated it when they got it. We went from a 4960 to an 8130 before the 8235r and it had the ivt and when we upgraded again we looked for an ivt from the get go.

All of the real good footage is from a Sony a6400. It’s a nice camera but much more difficult to use than just a simple gopro. Very minimal stabilization which leads to the shakier footage.
