Awesome! He is a bit awkward, but when he's performing.... Totally in his element.

It was one of his best performances on the show, and he had several. But my absolute favorite is "Breng hem thuis (Bring him home)", which he sang to Henk Poort to honor his step dad. Just a warning, there will be tears, that performance hits hard. Plus all the singers on that show surprised me with their talent. None moreso then Henk Poort - that guy is awesome! But the all had some amazing performances. And I totally agree with you about him seeming awkward when he's not performing.

Tim Akkerman is a singer-songwriter, who became famous as the first singer in the Dutch rockband Di-rect. He was in the band from 1999-2009. After the tour with their version of the rockopera Tommy by The Who, he decided to go for a solo-career. His first album, Anno was released in november 2011. Tim also did a chilling Dutch version of 'Bring him home' ("Breng hem thuis") from Les Miserables on BesteZangers. He is not so much the country type but more a rock&roll guy.

That guitarist is Marcel Fisser, the leader of Marcel Fisser band which is playing on Beste Zangers and now accompanying Floor on her solo tour in Netherlands.

I love his version of this Nightwish classic. He made it faster. It's in my music list. Tim used to be in a band called Di-Rect late 90's I think. Or early this century. Inside My Head is my favorite song from Di-Rect. I think you'll love it too.

Or the song Just The Way I Do. It was Di-Rect's first hit and he was only 19 years old back then. He's close to 40 now I think?

Nice reation! The Nightwish original is quite a bit slower -- and lengthier as is most NW stuff -- so he paced it up to fit the format of the show. You should check out Henk Poort singing the Disturbed version of Sound of Silence. ^^

Tim did a really good job on this. Before, I never imagined Nemo to be transformed into an up-tempo Bruce Springsteen style rock song... Nemo is Nightwish's biggest commercial success in terms of radio airplay (and sales probably, too). The original is 4.5 minutes long, and Tim had to cram everything into 3 minutes to comply with the rules of the show.

He's got that Springsteen rasp to his voice. I like how he made the song his own and did it in his own style. Once you get around to checking out Nightwish you'll catch the difference immediately I'm sure. He takes a Nightwish classic and turns it into more of a pop rock kind of style. Pretty cool.🤘👍

That was the best part of the show: each of them shines, in a moment or another.. imo this wasn't even Tim's best performance in the show. I prefer his "Bring Him Home" (Breng hem thuis in Dutch) from Les Misérables musical. He did it for Henk Poort, and all were emotional, even Floor dropped some tears.. Enjoyed also "Hotel California" performed by Rolf Sanchez, and Floor's song "Strong" performed by Emma Heesters.. and of course "Sound Of Silence" performed by Henk.. to name only some of the highlights.. Over all, this show was something special. And a funny thing: Floor became well known in her own country because of BZ, but other singers in the show became known internationally, because of the international Nightwish fans looking for Floor :)

@@danielberger1378 This show reminds me some feelings from my childhood (in the '80 in RO), then only on Saturdays nights and Sundays we had some TV shows.. :) because almost 2 months I eagerly waited every weekend for the BZ episodes. In that long gone times, Saturdays were working days..

He does have that rasp and would sound good with a lot of modern country, since a lot of it has the rock feel that he's probably used to. :) If you like him you're gonna love Home Free. Very diverse acapella group. Their lead tenor can rasp it like this. Interesting to compare this version to Floors opposite version during her recent Dutch solo tour. She referred to Tims version, but choose an intimate version for herself. Both great performances I think. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYndh5t5ibl9aMU.
