I've always enjoyed the excessively stylized aesthetic of Tim and Eric's work, but I've had an epiphany while watching this video. These guys are waaaaay ahead of their time, like a goddamned time warp - they have a resonance within so many levels of absurdity, their metaphysical satire is sadistically cynical, and their sardonic commentary is scathing in an almost genteel manner - their comedic juxtaposition is one of the most eccentric, yet accessible forms of performance art I've ever seen. Tim and Eric's art is the the art of subtlety and nuance, and it is really, truly brilliant. "Underrated" is a poor descriptor for the formidable comedy duo; "under-appreciated" is far more appropriate.

They weren't ready for the Billion Dollar Movie or Awesome Show questions haha. They couldn't ad lib an answer IN character, but they didn't want to answer OUT of character and spoil the act, so they gave short, one-word, vague answers. They should have said something like "We have completely disassociated from our past work. We are different people now. We've realized what's important in life. (rub fingers together)" Obviously much better than that, but a riff on that kind of thing.
@jamesvonhendriksen63149 жыл бұрын
+Chris Plumb ...Maybe. I sort of thought the point was that they're not even trying to conceal the fact that they know nothing about it and it's one massive con they don't really care about. Hence Tim's reverting to default "asshole Tim", not even trying to remain in character.
