I was born in 1951 and grew up with the first generation of TV fans. Spin and Marty, and the two fine actors who played them, are still heroes of mine. It's always great to see Tim and David and it's wonderful to know they've been friends all these years. I feel so lucky to have grown up when I did.

I was born in 1955, but I grew up watching afternoon reruns of the Disney kid shows from about the age of four or five. What I remember most about "Spin & Marty" was how much Roy Barcroft reminded me of Walt Disney and actor Ray Teal, so I tended to get them confused. It didn't help my young mind that, by then, Tim was appearing on the early seasons of "My Three Sons". All I really knew for sure was that I wanted to live on a western summer ranch like Spin, meet Annette Funicello (along ten million other boys), and fly around with Sky King in his Cessna 310 Songbird. Of course I'd have Lassie and Timmy for neighbors, while Sgt Preston and Yukon King, Rin Tin Tin and Corporal Rusty, Zorro, Superman, and the Lone Ranger and Tanto guarded our community. My God, the morally adventurous fun that children today are missing is a crying shame.

Colonel K Great post. Yes, I wanted to ride with Spin and Marty too, get the courage up to ask Annette for a dance (forget dating her, just a dance is all I could handle), and enjoy a campfire in a sing-a-long. Give me that.

I was in 4th grade in 1976 and EVERY afternoon the "Old" Mickey Mouse Club was shown on T.V. . To boys in my age group Spin and Marty were still relevant some 20+ years after the show was produced. Interestingly enough I was thinking about that program last week and was glad to stubble across this interview this week. It was good for my heart to see Tim Considine and learn about his work.

I was a fan of Tim's show here. I would run into him during christmas time when he would visit the local Vet hospitals and the patients during the Veitnam war. He was also seen again on film in the academy award winner film, 'Patton'. His role was the battle fatigued WW2 soldier than George C Scott slapped in Sicily. a good guy and actor.

I was born in 1955 in Australia however The Mickey Mouse Club ran in the 1960’s here. Spin and Marty was a wonderful serial for kids with relevant storylines that engaged me and from there I followed Tim Considine’s career. I think it’s interesting that so many people fondly remember these shows and actors from their childhood proving that they do have a lasting impact on us

Im not old enough to have seen Spin & Marty on TV, I was born in 60, but I knew about the Mickey Mouse club and eventually saw it on DVD, and I really enjoy movies from this time period, no gratuitous violence or sex, just good wholesome entertainment about some young boys growing up and finding their way in the world.

Very glad you got to interview Tim before he passed. I saw this a couple of years ago. He did a Chevy commercial with the Cartwrights and the Route 66 guys. Tim did an episode in a late year on Bonanza after Pernell Roberts left. I have a photo of the two with Guitars, so it must have been during the filming if the commercial, but behind the scene. Funny the 2 oldest sons in their shows at the time.

Outstanding interview as usual, Rob. I’ve watched this twice so I wouldn’t forget a thin Tim said. There were three shows I never missed: Mickey Mouse Club, Spin and Marty, and Cheyenne. Tim Considine was my first crush. The show meant so much to me that as a mom I fed livestock for local ranchers so my husband and I could send our three daughters to Wolf Mountain Horse Camp in Grass Valley three summers in a row. We always stayed around town hoping for a glimpse of the great Clint Walker but never did.

I was born in 1965, so I missed the whole thing the fist time around. But a few years ago I bought the Disney Treasures DVD set of SPIN & MARTY (that comes in a tin box). I thought it was a very charming series and it reminded me of my days as a camp conselor. I can't stand most of the modern Disney stuff that today is all about mechandising, but back then, back when Mr. Disney was still alive and kept an eye on everything, there was a lot of heart in those productions, whether it was a short subject or a major movie, whether it was for the big colourful screen, or the old black& white tv.
@spinandmarty3 жыл бұрын
Its always been about merchandising- since the very beginning. Disney was a genius about branding, knowing his audience, what sells and what his audience would buy. There are just more ways to 'sell stuff' now.
