If you can't understand the detail and depth of his stories, not to mention how strangely unique they are, you likely aren't very talented or skilled in the guitar, while also not noticing his general intellect. Considering he says "like" 18000 times in this interview and I still made it through, is impossible in itself.

I'm getting up there in age, turned 40 this year, and I have to say was looking for YEARS to hear someone from the new generation to really take the guitar and show us old guys what we forgot to try. I'm so glad I was turned onto Tim by one of my students. Makes me very happy for the future of guitar. And its REALLY great that he always seems like such a nice person; he's confident but not arrogant, eclectic and thoughtful. Great interview Rick.

There are so many innovative guitarists out there right now. I’m the same age as you and am a huge collector/music nerd. I suggest checking out some of the midwestern emo/punk bands from now back to the early 90’s late 80’s. There is some really impressive stuff going on there. Weird scales and signatures. I’d start with tiny moving part. Cheers.

Man, Tim is a really surprising guy. He seems to be growing as an artist and person yet remains humble, open and driven. And the camaraderie is incredible, reminds me of the days when Rhett would tend to hangout. One can see a deep friendship, these conversations could not happen otherwise. Tim is making history and enjoying the process. Sure is inspiring, though I'll say his music comes from areas way outside of my comfort zone but like LoI Armstrong said, there's two types of music: good and bad. Well Tim is certainly entrenched in the first category.

@edelcorrallira
@edelcorrallira Жыл бұрын
@@JohnWiku I see nothing wrong with that. Ibanez had already closed that door; that sounds more like a negotiation backed by determination rather than mere ego. Ibanez is a huge beast if he tiptoed they would have ignored him. At least to me it sounds like an artist asking for a brush saying that it would be great to be able to buy them there rather than having to look for it, after all they used to make it. But to fulfill it's patrons that brush was absolutely required and would go where needed should they were not in a position to fulfill the request. After all, one of the biggest differences I see between professionals and amateurs is the stakes. Your bank account is separate from your audience and being unable to fulfill their requests doesn't put ones own livelihood at risk.

I wasnt blown away but then ive been playing for 20 years was taught by the late Bob Fox Tydor at the RGT institute in London RIP to Bob , trust me there is like 1 million kids on the planet who can play as good or better , all hes doing is playing fancy jazz fusion at high speed , not that impressive , id rather listen to Django Reinhardt or Shawn Lane , guys who could play complex music but made songs , Also the reason why Tim and others like him can play that fast is down to modern guitar technology as back in the 50s and 60s you could not get 8 or 9 gauge strings on guitar , you could not get an ultra low action like on modern Ibanez guitars and no fancy pedal boards existed back in the old days , watch someone like Roy Buchanan he would school Tim if he was alive , he would say look kid stop banging away on that thing and lets make real music and throw away those effects pedals i can do what you do with zero effects on a 50s Telecaster lol and he did. RIP to Roy

I'm 62 and an 80s-hair metal guitar player. I have always loved shredding guitar. Once I found guitar instrumentalists like Satch and Vai, I was hooked on it. I heard about Polyphia less than a year ago and immediately loved their style. I was never much of a Rap listener, but I always liked the heavy beats and bass. Growing up, I liked Motown artists and the funky rhythms they used. This is probably why I like Polyphia; they incorporate all the musical elements I enjoy listening to. Don't know what it's called and don't care. Keep up the great work, guys. You have created something special.
