What are your thoughts? It's definitely not versatile, but it does a deckle edge really well! I like how easy it is to add that little detail to the edge of any project. :) ✭ FULL supply list with PICTURES: ldli.co/e/pm5d73

I bought an all metal deckle cutter 18 yrs ago & I paid $150+. This was from a book binding art store. My husband (& a few friends thought I was crazy) All they kept saying was “but it only does 1 thing.” I replied “yes but it does it so damn well.” I love mine & use it often. Amy Jones Apex, NC

I just had to come back on and say after watching your video I ordered myself this trimmer and it came within a couple of days and now had it a couple of days. I absolutely love it, so easy and quick for cutting little pieces for sentiments or for matting. I did a card yesterday with 2 layers of the deckle edge and it looked great. Easy inking around the card too. This trimmer is well worth the money and a couple of friends have decided they want to get one too. So thanks Simon for showing us this video, so very much appreciated and thrilled. Enjoy your week and stay safe. xx 👍😎👏👋🌈

Finally got this trimmer, waiting since January! I literally had unfinished projects waiting for it. LOVE it! I have used it a LOT on everything from thin paper to heavy cardstock and kraft-backed metallic cardstock. A thick paper that a regular trimmer just shredded went through the deckle trimmer clean and smooth. Press down on the guard and put some oomph on the handle to get a great cut. If you like rustic, shabby chic, steampunk or grunge, this can enhance any of those styles. I plan to use it for scrapbooking, too, to give that heritage look to the edges of photos, even modern ones. The price is reasonable for this, especially since I got it at a sale price. Tim Holtz is genius!!!!

I hadn't seen this trimmer at all, and I have to say I love it. It looks so easy but gives that lovely deckle edge and makes a plain card look quite classy....oh that will be lovely to do a gold deckle layer on a white card for weddings, just so many ideas to do with that trimmer. I love Tim Holtz trimmers etc and got to have this one, Simon I love that Deck the halls card you did so I will have to look out for that...what a stunning background that is. Thank you for sharing this video with us, very much appreciated. Have a good safe week. X 👍😎👏🥂👋🌈

Fab review. My favorite part about it is the resulting darker edge when you inked it! Thanks for reviewing!

@@simon.hurley I ended up ordering the gray trimmer, in the 8.5 size. I wrote Scrapbook and asked to make sure you got the credit for my order, even though I didn't buy the larger size. :)

Terrific detailed review! Although, I feel it won't work for my way of crafting, I can see how it would be handy for others. Tonic definitely makes sturdy products so I can see this lasting for a long time.

Photographers had deckle cutters with a little floating corner to place photo, back in the 30's on look at old photos and you will see it. I have a heavy metal one from Germany, paid $150 so this plastic lightweight with measurements is a great deal.

Thanks for the review but I don't think I'd use it enough to make it worth the cost. The price is definitely high for a single-use tool. I love my TH guillotine cutter but I also have another cutter with interchangeable blades that I use for stuff like this. Their optional blades are less than $10. Keep up the good work.

Not for me. Now if it came out with various design blades that you could screw on/off yourself, it would be awesome. You made my heart stop for a second as I just asked the larger guillotine as a Christmas present, and here you come with a newer version. Luckily it's something different. 😂

I'd been waiting ages for it, ordered it as soon as I saw it at a discounted price on release. I don't think of deckle as torn, to me it reminds me of the edges of old sepia photos. I've got some dies, but they're never the right shape, even playing around with partial die cutting, so hoping to get a lot of use out of it. I think you are right about the end, it needs a gentle graduation to slide the blades into position. I've tried a ruler with a deckled edge, not the one you are talking about by the price, but it only tears paper not card, and it literally just tears. The scissors are just for small things, and I'd been looking at reviews for more expensive ones, but everyone said the didn't work. I think it needs to be treated delicately, as I was a bit rough and couldn't get the blades to come together, but now I know, I've got it working fine, and I really like it. I recommend it if you like a deckle edge!

I have the regular tonic trimmer and love it. I have a pair of decorative scissors that do the same cut that I've had for years and for as often as I use them I can't see myself using the deckle trimmer enough to warrant the purchase.

I have an old paper cutter similar to that. It says: www.madeeasyinc.com on the side of the box, and has 3 different cutting blades that are removeable. I got it at a stamp convention years ago.

I'm disappointed in it. The deckle is not what I was expecting, the sound while it cuts is very loud. The back part of the blade you have to push hard in order to get a clean cut. Does not live up to the hype. My opinion is that it's so so.
