The ‘Gerry’ referred to is Gerald Ridsdale, a convicted pedophile priest from Ballarat. Not sure if you noticed the text at the end of the video but this song was written, recoded and released in 3 days during a government enquiry into sexual abuse in the Catholic Church. George Pell was asked to testify but refused to travel back from the Vatican claiming he was to unwell to travel. Proceeds of this song funded victims to go to the Vatican and confront him while he gave evidence via video link. It was found Pell knew about sexual abuse in the 70’s and 80’s and never made it public. During the enquiry there were thousands of coloured ribbons tied to the fence of Pells old church in Ballarat to show support for the victims. They are still there to this day.

Gerald Ridsdale was a real problem, but all the Catholic boys in Ballarat back when it happened knew NOT to go swimming with "Big George" as they called him - he was 'handsy' under the water - and that was in the public pool!! I believe the Altar Boys story from the Cathedral - pity they let the bastard out of prison...........the whole of Australia will celebrate his death - at 80 years old it can't be too far off!!

And he himself molested alter boys. But he died a few weeks ago. Hope he enjoys his special place in hell.

My husband is at a reunion this weekend for his class at St Patrick's in Ballarat 76-81 otherwise known as those years. The suicide rate for his year is close to 10%. Yes, a beautiful song about the darkness.

He recorded this in 2016 when Pell was being asked to testify to a royal commission into abuse of children in the Catholic church. We later found, however, that Pell didn't JUST cover up for paedophile priests (which would be quite bad enough). He also abused two altar boys.

and because he still had friends in high place - howard and his mob and a couple of high court judges who wanted to save the cretin so he only spent a few months in gaol before getting out on a technicality - the man was guilty and a paedophile like all his clergy mates - he is dead now so pell is in hell where he belongs

I second everything Tim sings here. Pell eventually was convicted of sexual crimes but the conviction was overturned in the high court. So in the end George Pell got away with covering up decades of sexual abuse by priests. Goes to show, its who you know eh?

Thank you so much for this reaction. I've watched Tim's song/video so many times and the part with the beard where he's singing as god KILLS me. I had to search reactions so I could watch someone share in my amusement. Your reaction is exactly what I needed. 😂

Answering your question as to whether Pell came home: He did not, he gave his evidence over "video link", however this song helped to raise enough money to allow the the victims to travel to Rome in order to confront him.

I believe he came home, was convicted and sentenced to a lengthy one, served like a year or year and a half, then was released bc his conviction was overturned by the Australian high court.. But I'm from Detroit too, so don't quote me on all of that. Just what I've learned from my research of Tim and his music

But this song wasn’t written in regards to the abuse allegations against Pell. This was during the royal commission into institutional abuse. He was called to testify about what he knew (he moved “alleged” pedophiles around from church to church to protect them). He refused to come back and cooperate so they took the commission to the Vatican. His testimony was cold towards victims. The allegations and criminal trial of pell came later

Like Nickel said below he did come home and was arrest himself for sex crimes however at the time this song was written his crimes had not come out yet. In Australia there was a Roal commision into insitutional Abuse weather it be church children home ect. Not long before this Cardenal pell went to Rome and when he was asked to give evidence as to what he knew he said he could not come becasue he was 'sick' its was not till a while after that he actually got put up on charges himself

Belated answer to your question but yes he finally came home and was found guilty of abusing 2 altar boys. On appeal the high court of Australia decided that the evidence used to convict him wasn't sufficient so he was released. But the public knows the truth. He died recently and he will forever be known as the man who enabled widespread abuse within the Australian Catholic Church. His crimes are unforgivable.

Please consider reacting to some of Tim's newest songs, as not many people have so far. Most react to older ones. The newest songs include Leaving L.A. (fantastic Zoetrope animation in that one), Airport Piano, 15 Minutes, Talked Too Much and Stayed Too Long, and If This Plane Goes Down. He wrote Leaving L.A. after an animated film he had moved there to direct and spent 4 years of working on got cancelled when the company producing it was bought by another studio. There's also a great "making of" video to accompany that one.

Dark side (awesome version) is better if you want to appreciate just how much of a master pianist Tim is and is my personal favorite but the orchestra version is a great show stopper and he does a music battle with the drummer which is quite entertaining. I'd say it's actually worth listening to both

If you don't help your puppy take care of business you will be taking care of the puppy's business. You do do good reactions to Tim's music because you are picking up on the message in the music and you have the musical knowledge to appreciate what you are listening to. You would enjoy "If I didn't have you" and "If you really loved me."

Could you please tell me some of the B-horror you've enjoyed, and some things you most/least enjoy seeing in them? Bad dialogue? Gore? Bad FX? Nonsensical story? etc. I'm a big aficionado of B-horror, exploitation flix, and just bad or weird movies in general. If you can tell me some of your preferences, I can more likely recommend movies you'll enjoy reacting to.
