Near age 30 Tim played at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. On a talk show, Tim said 5 people came to his show, and by about 30 min. in 3 walked out. The remaining 2 were a couple who Tim felt stayed just because they felt bad for him, and when he was done they simply got up and left. Less than 10 years later he was selling out Albert Hall and Carnegie. Never be deterred.

The first time I saw Tim Minchin live in concert, it was in the little mini theatre at the backroom of the main theatre. Maybe half full. I remember when he sang this, the line was "he's almost 30" not over 30 or other variations. It was a good show. Saw him a few more times, in the small room but sold out, then in the main room, and about 7(ish? approx 7) years later I went to a different city to see a show from the tour where he played in arenas, and had full orchestral backing!

I never felt he's slagging The Stones or The Ramones, I took it that The Beatles, Queen, Stevie Wonder are more melodic ... since this song is an autobiography.

Hi, lol... Just read a comment by someone who hates that u constantly stop, normally I would absolutely agree but after knowing how much you like Tim Minchin I'm ok with that cause truth is we are watching you. But cause (we who request Tim videos) just wanna make sure ur not missing anything. But speaking of Jesus Christ..lol, so I grew up listening to the original "J C Superstar"(the nuns at school were against it, so of course we loved it) & apparently Tim grew up on it too. Then as a grown man He auditioned for the part of Judas ( duh) and he's fantastic, you should Google a clip. I just love his talent. He's also right now starring in a show he helped write, looks cool but I don't think it's in the states, not sure . Anyway I love your commenting & know you appreciate the artist. ✌️

8 years of musical dabbling and still haven't figured out that pausing a performance every 5 seconds is full on disrespect to the artist.....
@L8bloomer_Audi4 ай бұрын
Well with reaction videos, I have 2 things to worry about. 1. Giving a genuine reaction (I will give honest reactions, I won’t play it up to absurdity, and I won’t dumb it down or express reactions or thoughts after the fact. If I did that I might as well do video essays). 2. Make sure that my videos don’t get blocked or get a strike on my content. KZbin insist on making sure that if a channel uses content that they have to make a video their own or basically transcend the content to the point where the original content isn’t the main focus. So with this being a reaction channel the main focus is not the original content, it’s my reaction. You should come to a reaction channel to see others react to something you love, and with my channel you should expect a genuine reaction whether it’s me being speechless or pausing a lot to give a thought, reaction, or point of view. Lastly it’s not disrespectful to the artist to pause “every 5 seconds” because this is not their channel. It’s mine and that’s genuinely how I react.

@@L8bloomer_Audi It is however THEIR ART, isn't it. Look I get it, getting demonitized and such is annoying. But I'm a pianist, let's say for example I write a piece of music and then perform it in full, the meaning of the piece can only be experienced in full right. Now let's say that I go to a venue to perform my piece and while performing it I get interrupted constantly.... the piece loses its' momentum and musical drive, emotions get lost and the meaning is destroyed. I have no problem with you reacting to something, but at least have the curtesy to go back some afterwards, that way you don't lose musical context and you preserve the energy and intention of the song or piece. Ya feel me?
@L8bloomer_Audi4 ай бұрын
@@deathbunny3048 I had a long comment for you, but there was an error and I’m not retyping it. But the gist is that this is my channel, so the videos I watched is my first time experiencing it, and the people that are watching me are people who have watched the video and was already got to experience it in full and want to share on my experience. Very rare is someone watching the original video with me and experiencing it for the first time, and the ones that are, are people that comes to my channel with me and share the experience (and it wouldn’t matter what original content). So for both of these situations are not about the original work, but my experience to it. A half-ass video with rare reactions from me would also be disingenuous and perceived as theft which I feel would be disrespectful on both accounts. I always tell people to watch the original video if they expect to watch the video in full to ensure that people that wants the full video and not my reaction to can get that.
@deathbunny30484 ай бұрын
@@L8bloomer_Audi I understand this fully. However, have you considered making the videos a bit longer, that way you'd have all of your original reactions, bit more editing needed, but you'd be able to go back after a string of reactions to the point where they started, keeping the flow of the musical piece in tact, showing more effort to prospective audiences, higher quality of reaction content and showing that you respect the artist enough to re-run their original intent? It's not about wanting the full video, it's about needing the music to flow the way the ARTIST INTENDED. This can be accomplished by simply running back a previous section of the content after reaction at a point that feels musically appropriate. It's about effort and commitment, I'm a musician and as a musician.... the worst thing you could ever do to us as a reactor is to cloud up our contribution to your existence as a channel, without content to react to, there is no reactor right? So treat it with respect, I see your channel standing above the others in that regard, since you seem to give a damn. Just give the artist a little bit more, a chance to convey, that is the greatest gift you can give any artist on the planet. It's about flow, it's about build up of emotion, it's about respect. Don't mistake this as a way to discredit what you do, that is not my intent, it's about balance.

@@deathbunny3048 ok. I get you. I am working on editing with different videos. You caught my older videos. I have gotten better on rewinding the song and letting it play longer. And I’ve gotten less talkative with artists that I’ve listened to more of their content so their’s not as much pausing ( how many times can you say Tim is a genius before it becomes monotonous). And people have suggested what you’ve suggested, and I’m getting better, but I will edit my reactions a little as possible because I want it to be authentic.
