Tim Minchin is a genius…a literal genius. He’s been called a polymath, who are known to have an extremely high IQ. I don’t always agree with him on particular subjects, but I cannot deny the man is one of the most intelligent people alive today.

I love Tim Minchin! He is so talented. You wanted to know a bit about what got him into musical comedy. His song “Rock and Roll Nerd” gives a little insight into why.

This song is about like 17 things at the same time. While also being a joke. Best comedic song ever writ IMO. And one of the best piano solos in the history of the instrument too. Tim is so very under-rated.

So this song was a response to Sony records who refused to give Tim a record deal because his music didn’t appeal to the “teenage audience”. He’s basically saying up yours to Sony, and that if the market wants “deep” he can be “deep” too! Tim is just such a thinker ! So ironic they didn’t find his music deep enough 😂

Great vibe dude, Tim is a funny guy for sure. seem to be an alright dude from what I've seen, and both you and him are spot on. Darkness sells. Funny how it goes like that. Peace dude, ill catch you in another of your vids.

Love this one so much, has it all. Love you got the "He's only sleeping", for some reason many don't connect that line with the daddy issues. Also the brooding voice was impersonating Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam, who were a very dark band and the line from Jeremy was slipped in just to make sure! Epic song!

You don't need to read music if you have great musicality as an artist, Pavarotti couldn't read music either but he's still one of the greatest vocalists of the 20th century and could pick out an out of tune instrument in an entire orchestra in a heartbeat. All you need is musicality and passion and a commanding stage presence.

There was a documentary that his next door neighbour made about his move from performing jingles in Fremantle in Western Australia to making a mark at the Melbourne Comedy Festival and then onto London. It’s very raw and honest and a great resource for some of his earlier work. I’m sure it’ll be on YT somewhere. It’s called “Rock ‘n Roll Nerd - The Time Minchin Story”, We’ll worth a watch

Woohoo!! I got the first like! Ya know what I love? I love when a reviewer laughs instantly when Tim says, "Daddy never came to my ballgames." SO many people just don't get the point he's making at that moment. The ones who get it, laugh at that moment. Like you did.

The reason why he was taking the piss out of Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam (Impersonation and Jeremy has spoken), is because Tim was quite vocal about his distain for the whole Seattle grunge scene. Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden etc..... in particular Eddie Vedder because of how seriously they and he took life.
