This is just so good. I have to admit, I thought using my imagination during prayer was “tinkering” with new age. I have a very very vivid imagination. Thank you.

Wow! Thank you for this. I am now grateful for Mr. Moriarty's great education that allows him to express his journey so well. Although having a drastically different life, I feel I know his journey well, and can see some of my own bends in the road clearer. "Horizontal transcendence" is something I have seen, yet could not express. That expression needs to be trademarked or something. Perfect.

I can resonate with his description of two worlds in the beginning of the talk.

Love this. I love hearing the stories of those who left the Church only to be pulled back after realizing that this is the true way. It is inspiring and only strengthens my own faith. I saw his film this summer and truly left inspired. Had no idea of his own story and connection to the film until now. I remember seeing him in the film, I think, but didn't connect it. Thabks Chris and Tim!

Wow-Chris. So spot on about Jordan Peterson! And I really appreciate your honesty about the struggle you faced around clergy abuse and the response from Jesus. So powerful.

@@mariac4602 thank you friend. I had to dig deep to decide to say that all out loud.

@@RealLifeCatholicThe truth sets us free. God bless you for sharing your own story along with Mr. Moriarty’s. He has some amazing arcs in his life. I feel inspired after listening to him speak. Only two of my five children are fully living their Catholic faith. But I pray and trust they will return to our spiritual home founded by Jesus. St. Monica is my example of a faithful mother. Keep up your good work, Chris.

It was the Jung, Campbell, Lewis, Tolkien, Peterson, Pageau train that Jesus used to bring me to Himself. Jung and Campbell were both raised Catholic... I pray for their souls.

Everyone experienced That Betrayal Through Their personal Lens Or through Others that went through it Luckily It never happened to me Or anyone I knew So when It Hit It hurt hard But My first response and how I still feel today Was That’s not my church That’s that’s the humans that run it And we all Are fallen and broken So shocked But Thank God Lost So my faith and belief Did not falter My church Is not Of man But of God God bless both of you For what you went through And that u Are still Among The faithful

I think we as Catholics should respect Peterson's discernment and relationship with God more.
@RealLifeCatholic2 ай бұрын
Peterson has presented himself as a religious leader. It’s ok to point out the possible pitfalls of that. It’s not personal. I’m just more concerned about people going the wrong way on “the bridge” that he seems to be.

This was so interesting! And it helped me to better understand the draw that young people have towards Jordan Peterson and Jung. I helped start the Chesterton Academy of Omaha (Chris, we are hoping you will be our speaker at our gala in April of 2025, and are waiting to hear from you). Your conversation about the importance of the imagination struck a chord with me because I see that as one of the strengths of the Chesterton curriculum, which helps our students develop their intellect, their faith, and their imagination. Great interview!

Oh I love Carl Jung! Though I found him before I ever even heard of Jordan Peterson. Jung is an author suggested by a lot of pagans too which is how I got into him at the time because it was before I reverted back into the Catholic Faith. Though some of Jungs stuff is genuinely scary. They say some of his experiments made him go partly mad.

IMO, more reading of fiction and/or listening to storytelling is necessary to excersise making pictures/imagining. In a movie, the director has done this for us.
@johnnichols20882 ай бұрын
Fortunately as someone with an overactive imagination I never struggled with that for one second😆

I was angry with the catholic cover up, but not the church. I understood that child predators are going to find their prey whether they are coaches, teachers, priests or whatever. We're all broken by sin, but once the predator caused a child to be harmed, I believe that instead of covering it up, that priest should have been removed from any contact with children. That's the true horror - that our bishops allowed the predator to stay in place and continue to abuse their position.
