Turned to my mate after 25 minutes & said I've sussed City & Pompey will just like every other team will. It's absolute risk for little reward. There's no point, even if the players were the best the odds still wouldn't stack up. They run full pelt & go nowhere, it's why they're knackered by half time. The opposition know even if they go behind they're only the inevitable mistake away from being level. Come on Baz there was real progress under Rosenior, Ipswich at home was nothing like this, sure there was the odd stinker but we played Southampton off the park FFS. Lack of patience & arrogance is why we're here & that's down to one man.

remember the first guy he hired before Rosenior? Completely terrible. This chairman has exhibited bad judgment three times, twice in poor hires, once in an unreasonable firing.

I agree I think Tim is on thin ice right now even though I think Acun wants to give Tim the chance to make this work as Acun made the decision to sack Rosey and bring Tim in he will want this to work more then anyone. But I also think Acun is ruthless In business and will make any difficult decisions even when it’s kind off admitting his decision was fundamentally wrong. So yeah Tim’s in the sights right now it’s just a matter of will Acun wait to see if he can help Tim any way maybe strengthening the squad somehow or time to change direction and part with Tim. But we all know something big is on the cards one way or another

That the style of play, tactics, formation etc are not working is very clear to see and has been discussed to death. The options appear to be to persist with Walter and the current approach or to make a managerial change. The third option that Baz didnt allude to is for Walter to have a plan B, to appear to have taken notice of what isnt clearly working and make the necessary tactical adjustments during and between games. Unfortunately, Walter doesn't seem to want to do this or isn't capable. At best he seems rather dogmatic and reminds me of Southampton's Russell Martin who has openly stated he refuses to change the Saints' style of play despite results. At worst, he presents as a clueless, arm waving child having a tantrum. Comparisons to Rosenior are valid in terms of poor home form, and the lack of plan B. However, LR did have the credit in the bank with fans and the club due to his record as manager (saving the team from relegation and then climbing the table). He also had good connections within the game enabling us to secure high quality players albeit on loan. If I recall correctly, the main issue post Jan 2024 was the club's unwillingness to sign a credible striker to replace the injured Delap, a strategy that has continued into this season with the signing of several sub-par players. I also felt LR's possession based game and playing out the back wasn't as effective as he hoped/believed and certainly not entertaining. Yet, this season, it certainly appears to have become worse in that respect.

Alot of people going over the sacking of rosenior again, its obvious there was alot more to that. He was always going on to bigger things if he wasnt getting the proper backing here to take us to the next level. It will be a massive task for any manager to come in and sort them out now, i cannot see us paying what it would cost to get somebody who could pull it off either.
@edubmf2 ай бұрын
Oh dear not happy campers. The fault here lies with the chairman.
@gribwitch2 ай бұрын
Agreed. Acun made a rash and quite senseless decision to sack Liam. Getting within two points of the playoffs is a more than decent achievement. Any other team would be happy with that and use it as a springboard for further improvement. We were stable and just needed fine tuning. A little more patience would have seen us in a much better place now, But no, Acun made a stupid move. You can't play all out attacking football all the time, in an attempt to "entertain" the fans - which was Acun's justification for changing managers. You'll get caught out on the break. You have to have balance in defence and attack. Liam was achieving that. Then Acun decided to scrap everything and begin all over again. Now we're aimless and underachieving. Acun has to take the blame.

Walter has had thirteen league games to sort the team out and the Portsmouth match should have been a nailed on home win. They were bottom of the table,, Hull were at home and needing to win to get a run going. They failed to do that. He failed to do that. Walter's all out high pressing " heart attack" style of football is naive. It leaves you open to counterattacks. I'm no manager, but even I could see that was going to be a predictable vulnerability, and so it has proved. Blackpool under Ian Holloway is a classic example. Holloway played a 424 formation with emphasis on scoring more goals than the opposition. Yes it was thrilling to watch, but like Walter is finding out, it costs you as many goals or more, than you score yourself. Blackpool were consequently relegated.. The whole point of bringing Walter in was to do better than Liam did. That was always going to be a tough ask, because a new manager had to rebuild the entire squad, get to know the platers, imprint his unorthodox style upon them e.t.c. That takes time. It would have been better to have stuck with Liam but put him under notice to do better and give him a deadline. Sacking him was very harsh in my opinion. We had to start all over again. Now it's more and more evident that this experiment has failed. Walter has had a fair trial period to see what he can do. He's fallen short.
