I'm so glad that I found this series, even if it is from 5 years ago. I've just wasted about 2 days trying to rig up for lifting rafters on a very similar frame. Ropes going thru tall tree branches and block and tackle and plenty of ladders. Then I saw the gin pole that you erected. Now why didn't I think of that? So now I know what I"m doing today. And putting blocks on the plates so that the rafters can't slide down past where they need to fit was genius. I kept trying to figure out how you were going to do the last couple of rafters too. Thanks for showing that too. I hope that you've been enjoying this barn in the years since you built it. Many thanks again.

The tragic irony of completing a timber frame is that this stage is the most beautiful it will ever be, with its rugged structural integrity plain for all to see. There is no board and batten or cedar shingle that can top the stark beauty of a timber frame like this one.

Very good . Topping out the building like the ironworkers do on skyscrapers . Nice . Great idea when working alone to use a clamp on a tape measure . Many builders extend the tape out to get a more precise measurement . R&R Buildings does that . That sure is one big auger bit . Congrats .

Maybe before you start the next timber frame project you'll join the circus and train on the high wire for a while, or maybe you're already qualified after those last two rafters. LOL I did see you had your "backup support" there ready to catch you if there was a misstep. It really does look good as the drone shots show it off very nicely. Great job.
