Overclock: allows you to charge your bow faster and the player moves slightly faster for a couple seconds. Spread Shot: fires three shots in a spread pattern. Triple Shot: Fires three shots in a straight line. Boulder Dash: the player moves quickly in a straight line, it stuns enemies and damages them.

You could have the player generate the stamina like bar if they're really close to enemies, encouraging risky tactics. And you could pair this with a bow that fires 3 arrows simultaneously. It's looking great though!

I feel like the damage while charging could be pretty cool. It encourages the player to time their shots, rather than just spamming whenever possible. Another enemy could be a sort of splitter enemy, that splits into numerous smaller enemies that target the player. Another motivation to use the critical arrow would be that you can shoot te critical arrow at the activation pads to activate them, if the pad has too many enemies around it.

If anything, all the glitches with the boss were kind of better, doing damage while it charges is an interesting concept will be very helpful and makes sense if the fast powerful arrows were able to break through shield

This looks great and if you haven’t already thought of it for each square you light up the enemies get more health and damage by a small fraction of course but enough to be noticeable and it makes the game more difficult for progression and when you finally get to the boss it feels more earned

Another way to fix the arrow piercing bug is to send a raycast backwards from the arrow a certain distance, and if it hits anything to move the arrow back and/or destroy it.

Awesome video! Really liking the progress. The new boss looks nice and I really like the shield blocking idea. Like you I too faced a problem with fast bullet collision. I too used a ray within one frame distance travelled to find the collision. Anyway, Keep it up! :)

Hey I was wondering how to create a background like you have in your game. Is there a tutorial somewhere or could you maybe give me a keyword for me to do further research? Is that a Parallax background?

The background consists of 2 particle effects, which spawn these background objects. And both have a parallax script attached to it. The script is just moving the whole object slightly in the direction of the camera. There are plenty of tutorials for parallax backgrounds and the particle system. I hope this helps you out :D

Maybe a abilty thats called teleport. Where you can teleport to your cursor position but this would be kinda OP so it would maybe drain a lot of energy

I plan to let the player completely customize the player character with different modules and bows, which all have strengths and weaknesses. But I'm not completely sure if that's good.

On the crit mechanic: I think you made the wrong change to it. The mechanic was good (and also not new, more on this in a second), it rewarded good timing. The curent iteration rewards careful and conservative play. By putting that at the end you are giving players a reason to wait more to shoot. Why would they shoot early? Isn't better to just wait for the best? Now, (let's get back to this point) there are two games with a mechanic like this. Those are Devil May Cry 4 and 5. In these two there is a sword called Red Queen that you can charge for better demage. There is a difference between this two when comes to this critical mechanic and that is the the window for the oportunity. In 4 was (if I remember right) a specific point to let go while in 5 was an interval where you needed to let go. In 4 you needed frame perfect skill and/or luck, while in 5 you just needed skill. So yeah, I think you should have made the window of oportunity for the crit just bigger not just "when it gets to 50%" and not put it at the end of the charge time.

You have a point in that, when the crit window is mid charge it would give the player a reason for shooting early. But this would discourage the player from waiting for the end of the charge. So the player has no reason to charge longer if they can do even more damage when charging half. And maybe I didn't explain it very well, but the crit shot still needs pretty good timing. So the small timing window just moved from mid charge to the end. The game "Hades" does a pretty similar thing to what is in my game now. So the crit window is at the end of the charge time. And I have to say, while playing it, it felt quite neat and better then the old crit mechanic in my game.

@@calinvlad858 The longer the bow charges, the bigger the arrow is and the more damage it deals. So the damage increases linearly form 0% to about 95%. And from 95% up to 105% it crits. And holding even longer than this will deal the same damage as 95%.

there is a better solution for the collision check for the arrow if it moves fast , just go rigidbody and change the Collision Detection to "Continuous" . and this will fix the problem without having to write a code for it and it will detect the collision no matter how fast it moves

Would fixed update not fix your arrow piercing shield problem? That way physics are frame rate independent

Not really. They would be independent from the normal update rate but fixed update actually updates even less often than normal update.

Everybody advertising Core but nobody using it. If they paid me Id be using that bad boy! Just suspect. Game looks fun, I would say add a shockwave arroe that explodes after x time freezing all enimies in aoe for x time.
