Metallica’s Kirk Hammett (guitar) and Robert Trujillo (bass)--as well as Ugly Kid Joe’s Whitfield Crane (vocals), Queens of the Stone Age’s Jon Theodore (drums), Death Angel’s Mark Osegueda (vocals), and Bad Wolves' Doc Coyle (guitar)--perform as The Wedding Band and play a cover of the Black Sabbath song "Heaven And Hell" live in concert before a sold-out crowd at The Fillmore in San Francisco, California on December 17, 2021. Heaven And Hell appeared as the title track of Black Sabbath's ninth studio album in 1980. Rob Trujillo has his own Black Sabbath connection; he played bass in Ozzy Osbourne's band for several years starting in the late 1990s. Osbourne was the original lead singer of Black Sabbath.
This show at The Fillmore as the Wedding Band was part of Metallica’s “San Francisco Takeover” in December celebrating the band’s 40th anniversary. The all-star cover band played several 70's and 80's rock and funk songs, only wrapping up the show after 3am. The supergroup was formed in 2019 as a Metallica side project; they got their name from the fact that their first gig was a friend's wedding in Hawaii. Their next scheduled live show is on May 27, 2022 at Blue Note Napa / Jam Cellars Ballroom (Margrit Mondavi Theatre) in Napa, California as part of BottleRock After Dark.

I was there on this night. It effin raged. It was more than a show, it was like a party. Everyone there was super amped because they had all just left the 1st night of the Metallica 40th shows. They didnt even start playing until almost 11 and immediately blasted in with Highway to Hell. One of the great shows in my life

Well, he's not recording anything with them. Jason very often joined bands onstage while he was in Metallica. They didn't care. But at the time, their egos were more fragile. Glad they grew as people though.

Heaven and Hell tour - 2007 - I saw the real deal perform this. It was slightly better... I don't expect anyone to match Dio, but I expected more of Kirk Hammett here. This solo on this song isn't really that hard, compared to other Iommi stuff. It should be covered with respect and played note for note. I'd hate to see Kirk try to play the solos in Neon Knights.

It fell apart at the big moment because the Guitar player was not playing the solo note for note and got locked in that triplet phrase too early. Nice to see he threw some of the proper lead in there, but the wha, why, it's Heavy Metal, that lead should just be as it is on the album. sparse, alone. It's almost like the intro to Die Young but with that pulse behind it instead of the wavy keys. Singing was alright, I thought "no side projects" in Metallica. I just clicked on to see a wedding band play Heaven and Hell hoping it was note for note.
