Art Garfunkel plays "Bridge Over Troubled Water" live in concert at the Uptown Theatre in Napa, California on May 12, 2019. The song was written by Paul Simon and originally appeared on the Simon and Garfunkel album of the same name in 1970. This version does not include the Sail On Silver Girl verse about Simon's then wife, Peggy Harper, which Garfunkel had suggested but which Paul Simon never really cared for. The song has also been reworked to match an earlier version of the song Paul Simon discussed in a recent documentary. Joining Mr. Garfunkel onstage are Tab Laven (guitar) and Paul Beard (keyboard).

Bridge Over Troubled Water lyrics:
When you're weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all
I'm on your side
When times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I'll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Written by Paul Simon

Thanks for watching my video. I just posted a video I shot of Paul Simon playing the same song a few months later (August 2019): kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZ61i3ykm7qcbK8 . Note that Simon does the song with a 15-piece band, so it's a very different experience from this intimate version by Garfunkel. And to see the 7 other videos I shot at this Art Garfunkel concert, please see kzbin.info/aero/PLwdc0qZNx0tbECxpc5BQaJsKNuJvN7LFh . Enjoy!

When he sings, the croak of old age that has crept into his speaking voice melts away. He doesn't have the power of his younger self, but the same vocal sweetness still rings. All these years, and it's still beautiful.

I’m sorry but did you hear how he did the song? Not even a complete version of it. He sounds like he gets out of breath so he has to shorten the songs. He could never keep up with Paul Simon’s strong, clear, uncompromised voice now. Those damn cigarettes ruined everything!

Oh give it a break! Let’s be real here. They are 79 years old! They are both too old now for the kind of tours they used to do. I do wish they would do just one last get-together to reconcile once and for all before they die, but I don’t believe Paul would go for it. He retired 2, almost 3 years ago now and I don’t think he wants to go touring anymore.

I am blessed to have been born and lived through those/these times! To have these dudes living at the same time as me. All the greats of music, S & G, P Mccartney, Beatles, rolling stones, Everlys, Elvis, and you know all the rest of them! We have lived though a great time of music haven't we? But sadly they disappear,.... there is someone leaving us every year. The Songwriters and singers that made us happy as we were listening to our favourite songs on the radio while sitting in our bedrooms. And we see these people get old and grey..... and then we look over our shoulder at the mirror, realise that we too, have grown old and grey with them. The music has remained exactly the same.....but we haven't. When we are all gone, and all those singers im talking about, the next generation will not understand what that different type of music did for us way back when we were teenagers.

Nao acredito que esse e outros sucessos ainda tocam os nossos coracoes, musica boa nunca some, apenas deixamos ela de lado e quando bate a saudade nos retornamos onde a deixamos!

I once made the remark "My gosh, look how old that star is" My granddaughter replied, when just 7 years old, "Well grandma, did you think you were going to get old, while everybody else would stay young"? Actually I guess I did!
