Gman out of nowhere 4 years later. To actually address your comment, yeah there's exceedingly little good arcade capture footage: this video, Fighters' Choice Arcade and Smraedis' 1CC Marathon video. The only thing I could criticise is that it's excessively bright and that really detracts from the lighting. Not sure if that's due to the capture software or Smraedis turned it up on the machine or during editing or what. Funnily enough, Fighters' Choice Arcade's TC2 video is really dark. Nevertheless, I love this video and the skill on display is out of this world. This inspired me to try and really git gud at the game.

The machine gunner at 5:09 never cease to amaze me. He is firing an assault rifle on full auto at what is typically close range, failing to score any hits on the VSSE agents yet the VSSE agents needed six seconds (you can see the hit at 5:15) to kill him. A master player will kill the same machine gunner in less than a second.

For fellow high-scorers, here's things he missed: In case you don't know; bonus areas in stage 1 and 3 unlocks by shooting the first boss' hat off at each encounter during the second area, against Wild Dog, you have to shoot him 45(?) times before he transitions to the last area. Stage 1 is pretty clean, only that all boats can be triple-shot, but hard to do. Stage 2 - When you get the machine gun and face the tank-like enemy. It's possible to dodge the tree and keep your combo going. - Missed second stage secret area. After getting on the train and clearing the hall, when you turn to face the train beside you - 3 yellow guys appear. Shooting all 3 takes you to a bonus area similar to the first stage. You get ~2000 more than the regular route with a combo, but is a bit harder so much just be player choice. He doesn't even go for the first guy. - Missed the orange bonus guy in the boss fight; he's in the helicopter as the boss turns toward you to shoot. Stage 3 - The helicopter falling the background of the very first area can be shot for bonus points - All the stage 1 regular enemy areas can be combo'ed, delay the killing blow on 'transition' enemies to keep it going. - Wild Dog can be shot while winding up for the punch in the duo fight (after the kick) - Very last part of last fight - you can duck between rockets, take a single shot, and duck again between rockets to keep combo going. - Not shooting Diaz at all during the last fight gives more shots, player shoots a killing blow on Diaz when he had ~5 more shots at the solar panels which were turning around for him to shoot. Generally it's interesting to see another player shoot, he plays slow and methodical - prioritizes combo over time bonus. Generally quicker 3 shots on enemies that isn't to keep the combo going would reward a lot of time bonus points. 'Max' score is ~2'350'000 imo. Even with perfect combos, its plateaued around 2'200'000; only speed gives more points. Aggressive shooting is best for learning imo: Getting the feel for very fast areas helps a lot when you then learn to combo. -MHL

Gosh that really takes me back to the late 90s and I've forgotten that this game is 26 years old. Another cool aspect was the co-op mode. Of course, you would have to hope that the other random person who join was at least a bit skilled. I never had that problem years ago. I have a twin brother and we were obssessed with this game. We used to hang around at the movie house in our teens wearing out TC2 and people would actually gather round to watch us playthrough it on one credit and no health damage. Laugh and grow fat! 😆

Holy shit, I used to play the hell out of this as a little kid. The local beef o' brady's had a cabinet and my great aunt would always bring me there and give me money to play. I will never forget how many times I literally died two shots before killing the final boss and spent another quarter, only to feel ripped off.
