im looking to buy a 280z and was worried about rust being an issue, seeing you guys fix rust in areas where i couldnt even imagine being able to fix has given me the motivation to pull the trigger and go look at one of these cars tomorrow.

They can be pretty bad depending on location (this was in rust belt) but again, anything is fixable and there is massive aftermarket support and panels for these cars

Well done guys; as someone who has owned and raced 3 Zeds, I can tell you the bobtail and airdam are just right; more effective than the "period" chin spoiler and bobtail at high speeds, and look better too. (hate those cheap ass JDM bolt on flares some guys do) perfect mag choice too. Like it a lot.

The brake is 36 inches, it was very affordable at $300ca, harbour freight or princess auto here in Canada. Its such a handy tool, really helped speed up the process in patches

Great work on 99.9%. That rear wing has crazy gaps that should have been fixed. So much great work. Shame to ruin it with a poor wing...looks like it needed a lot of custom trimming to get it to fit right...aftermarket classic.
@TheSubieSanctuary
@TheSubieSanctuary 2 жыл бұрын
That is exactly how the wing is supposed to be. Cant narrow the rear to fill its factory gaps. Its plastic. 70’s cars dont have the same factory tolerances as todays stuff. Weather the wing be a factory option or aftermarket is unknown to me

@@TheSubieSanctuary saw that in the thumbnail next video ...I'm considering it. Would have to buy a couple more metal working tools. Hide the plasma cutter as well ...I feel like I could cut a little faster using it only area I could possibly save some time. Drill spot welds?? That's yesterday's method and as a result get to shape a bit faster. but the risk of warping panels is greater as well. Clean up ECT. The poorly fitting panels was the biggest let down. They are expensive as is... to get bought and shipped just for them to not fit.. lord....great job tackling that. My possible chassis needs front fender work and quarter glass metal work so MMM. Yours was pretty bad tho not gonna lie ..you made it looks k way way wayy easier then it was so good job. This is a serious job.

What is the VIN on this car? I had HLS3000718. It was an early '70 and I also had that rear spoiler. The only other Z I saw with one (that specific one) was at the vintage races at Mosport one year. Be aware if the centre section of that spoiler is heavy it can, and did, pull out the hatch hinges.
@TheSubieSanctuary
@TheSubieSanctuary Жыл бұрын
He has owned it since new! He has also taken it around mosport many many years ago. It has been silver, green and copper in colour. So if you seen one with this spoiler at mosport in any of those colours then there is a good chance!
@madman2096
@madman2096 Жыл бұрын
@@TheSubieSanctuary No the car it was on was a racer so not likely his. I asked as it appears to have vents on the hatch which makes it a 1970. But it also has the vents on the panel behind the side windows (part of the crest in that area) which would make it a 1971+. In either case if the center section of the rear spoiler is solid (heavy) be warned about the hatch hinges eventually failing due to the load. Best reinforce that area somehow.
@TheSubieSanctuary
@TheSubieSanctuary Жыл бұрын
@@madman2096 it was a 1973, its made of a few 240’s now and a floor from a 300.
