Hi Roopjeet.. I had a visa interview last week and at the time of interview, the US Counsellor Officer said my visa is approved and he retained my passport and also signed DS 2019 form as my visa was for J1 Exchange. However, after 6 hours i received an email stating that my visa is refused under section 221 g of Immigration and Nationality Act pending submission of further information e.g. prior travel history, prior passport details, siblings, spouse and children details, contact details of last 5 years, residential details of last 15 years etc. Can you guide me how much time they may take and what may be the possibilities?

Just submit the documents they have asked for, this is strange though that they approved it first and then... anyways just provide the proofs and it will be processed soon, depending upon what documents they have asked for

This means they have looked into all the details they wanted to, but visa is not approved yet unless they have emailed you that your visa is approved, most probably you are good if they asked for the passport though. It depends in 221G cases how long they take though

Hi ! Even if they ask to submit passport. They might or may not approve visa . If they approve visa all good.. if not they ll send back passport with 241 g rejection . Wait until they send you an email. I also got 221g and submitted additional documents and passport together 3 days back . When I asked ,VAC employee what's next, she said due to pandemic and lockdown processing time changed. Kindly, wait for a month.

Very next day i got an email to collect your passport i visited and pickup the passport when i checked all the pages i could not found anything. @@maryammerchant3045 Hey, so if the Visa officer has taken your passport then don't worry about it. For others and for me personally, it took 3-4 days. It took my case 3 business days. Keep checking your status on the CEAC Tracker website. Day 1 shows 'refused', day2 shows 'Administrative Processing', and day3 shows 'Issued'. So all the best. PS: You will not get an email, you will have to check the status yourself.

Hi RoopJeet, I had an interview last week for an F1 visa here in Zambia and the consular said everything looks fine but they have to do further administrative processing. I had done my undergrad in the us before and have done the interview twice already, so this was my third time. Yesterday the status changed from refused to administrative processing. My parents also did the same interview and got approved, but their case status says the same thing. Does that mean my visa got approved? And how long do you think it'll take?

No this means they are processing your case and probably processing some documents or checking some history here n stuff. In cases where it shows administrative process no one can tell how long it will take. But good thing is they are processing. So good luck to you guys

Hi Roopjeet, I had my H1B interview on 10th May 2023 in New Delhi. The counselor has given me yellow slip . In that it's regarding 221g and in that slip no where it is mentioned the list of documents need to submit. The passport is with the counselor only and in the current passport she is mentioned as admin processing. She had a word with me, I have to review and check with superior officers. In the visa status it is showing as Refused . In my case how long it may take and can you please advise me to proceed further. How can I share the yellow slip which the counselor has given to me. Hi Roopjeet, I received 221g last Friday with the reason stating due to presendential proclamation 10199 they are not approving the visa. Once this ban is lifted then I have to aubmit the passport in the nearest VAC. Do you have any idea on this process?

Hi I had my interview on 13 April 2022 Everything was good and officer asked my passport and asked me you are good to go. Then after 6-7 hours I got email I got 221g and they asked to complete supplemental questions. Which I did already. And then They drop my passport without visa sticker. Now I’m so panic.

DI in ds260 form I told my mom is unemployed and no about education But now in questionnaire they ask me same question about job education and other questions about places the visit before . Hello ma’am I attended interview on august 9th Chennai and was issued with green slip stating that my application is approved and my passport was taken to stamp visa as informed by the Consulate officer. The very next on 10th august I received 221G via mail asking me to verify some queries they have via mail and I replied on the very same day through mail. Now it’s been more than 4 months I haven’t received my passport nor my visa. I already missed my Fall sem 2021 and defered to spring semester 2022 and classes are supposed to be commencing from mid January I have no idea when I will receive my passport and visa. Though I have been dropping mails every week to the embassy they are giving a reply as to they cannot predict when the process will be over. Can you advise me on this?

Hi, i applied for j1 exchange visitor visa and i got this form too , rather everyone yesterday who went for for this same visa they got this form including the F1 visa applicants, they mentioned me that i qualify for the visa but sadly they can't iasue now because of the ongoing presidential proclamation from Apr 24 2021, and he wrote the same thing on that form, rather everyone yesterday got this form, I hope this doesn't results in refusal.

@@tpams157 No you have already done your interview right, so medical and biometrics are all done, since you got the 221G just submit the documents they asked, then they will process your documents. Once they are satisfied with your documents they will ask for your passport for the visa stamp, then you will just pick the passport from the pickup location you have given them and you will be good to go. If anything is confusing to you in this message let me know, I will explain in more detail. Good luck to you from both of us.
