Hi officer, After my embassy appointment, I received a pink 221(g) slip and am currently in Administrative Processing. They sent me an email containing multiple questions, one of which was, "When did you begin and end your military service?" Unfortunately, I made an error while filling out my DS-160 form, where I mistakenly entered my military end date as January 19, 2018, instead of the correct date of April 19, 2018. Should I mention this DS-160 error in my reply email to the embassy, or should I only provide the documents and the correct date? Hi Ben! Love your videos. I applied for an L1A which was approved by the USCIS. I had the interview and that day the CO told me that the information was not on the PIMS system. At the end of the interview, they gave me a 221(g) white slip and the current status of the visa is "Administrative Processing" but the CO kept the original I-797 and my passport. They did not ask me for more documentation. In this case, out of the top of your mind, is there an avg waiting time? In this particular case, if you have had it in Argo, this is a good sign? That they kept the passport and I just need to wait to verify the information submitted on PIMS?

Hi, I had my k1 visa interview in Beirut on Aug 31st 2023. I was given my passport back with a paper of refusal under administrative procedures, but there was no document missing , they didn’t ask me for anything, she even refused to see the proof I brought and said “ I have everything I need” . Hi Ben, great video. However, for my case I was told that my tourist Visa was approved right after the interview and the officer even said “have fun in SF it’s a great place”. Sometimes feel like the EB5 applicants are treated like the step kids. We paid a lot of money that created jobs and helped the economy and yet we are not given the same time of day other visas are. I have a L1B approved petition and I received 221g in Visa interview. Asking for some additional documents, to be sent only on Email at consulates email address. I am going on an Appointment Intra company transfer and would be working on Companies proprietary tools and technologies. During the interview VO asked me on client details. I replied it is a intra company transfer. Additional documents which are requested are mostly on client details and end product market analysis. Most of this scenarios are not applicable in my case. Hi Ben, As per the new USCIS interview waiver, I'm eligible for dropbox appointment and I dropped all my documents on April 6th at Hyderabad Consulate. After 10 business days my visa status on CEAC website was changed to administrative processing and then to refused. Soon later the same day I received and email from the consulate to attend for fingerprints verification on April 26th. At the time of interview the officer did not ask any questions or documents, just took my fingerprints and said "your visa is approved" and kept my passport. The same day the status on the CEAC website changed from refused to administrative processing. Till today(May 23rd - 18 days from the day of interview/verification) it is the same status. I contacted them through email and call but I got a standard answer to wait until the processing is complete. As they have my passport with them I'm patiently waiting for their response, but I'm just not getting how long can they hold my passport with them without any update? Also what could be the reason to take this long for processing even after being said visa is approved at the time of fingerprint verification. Please let me know any inputs would be helpful.

I am on a L1A visa. I am put in 221g. The officer told me to fill the form DS-5535. Can I send additional information to support my case(the officer asked about the company if it is old or new and she never told me to hand her the I797)? Or just send the DS-5535 only?

Hello! the L-1A applicant's spouse and their common children applied to the embassy for an L-2 Visa - family members of the L-1A applicant. The I-797 notice has been approved by USCIS for main L-1holder earlier, the spouse and a child over 14 came to the Consul, the rest under 14 was told not necessarily. The consul's questions focused on how and when the principal L-1A applicant received his first L-A visa in other third Country, couple years earlier. At the end of the interview on the L-2 Visa for the spouse and eldest child of the L-1Aapplicant, the Consul said that "I don't see an approved L-1A petition in the system" and put L-2 Applicants into 221 (g) status. When L-2 applicants asked Consul "How long will it take?", the Consul replied "About a week". they then asked, "How Consul will contact?". to which the Consul replied that he would call the L-2 applicant's work phone number. Finally, the Consul gave a copy of the 221(g) waiver, which had a cross marked against the text "Additional Administrative Review Required. "For frequent appeals to the Consulate and appeals from the USA Congressman's office - there were a duty reply from US Consulate: - "An administrative procedure is being considered, we will inform you." History: The first time an L-1Aapplicant received a multi-tour visa for a year in 2015 without problems ,stayed in the United States with repatriation for more than the period specified in the tourist visa, changed his status in USCIS to F-1 within 3years, returned to Motherland, and applied for an F-1 Visa at the American Embassy in the Motherland, which was denied twice in 2018. For the third time in 2020, due to the fact that the Embassy did not work in the Motherland based on COVID-19, after the USCIS approval notice L1A Visa Applicant applied from third foreign Country and obtained that Visa at another Country. In this regard, questions: #1. Officially on the ceac.state.gov website - when checking the status of the DS-160 applicant for an L-2 Visa - it is indicated in bold -"REFUSED" - but further in smaller print it is written if the Consul told that the case was denied due to administrative procedures - you have to wait. - a) In this case, is it possible to apply to the embassy of another country and ask for the same Visa? - b) How successful will there be a chance that the Consul of another country will give a visa?#2. If the Consul who told the L-2 to the applicant that he does not see the approval notice in the PIMS (Petition Information Management Service) system, it is well known that the case is sent to the US State Department.- c) is it worth calling/emailing the US State Department and asking: to speed up, approve and return the case to the original Embassy for issuing a Visa? - d) is it worth calling / emailing USCIS and asking for their help, that they say the Consul at the embassy that petition really approved and it's updated in the PIMS system. And after all Consul finally see the approval notice and approve the Visa for L-2 applicant. Thank you,

Hi, My husband appeared for an interview of J1 visa (postdoc in Nuclear Engineering) at US Consulate, Frankfurt in January 22. He received 221G form but no proper information about the required documents was given. After writing to the consulate, he received an email specifying the required documents. He replied in the same thread providing all the documents. Surprisingly he received no auto generated response from the embassy side. Its been exactly one month after this and still no update. Yesterday he again send all the documents in a fresh email. My query is, did the consulate at all received the documents when he sent them as a reply email to the mail sent by the consulate? How long should we wait as it is already more than 4 weeks after he sent all the documents for the first time. I moved to USA 3 months back and every passing day is becoming harder. Any suggestion is appreciated.

hello!! i recently attended a B1/B2 visa and got a 221g adminitrative processing. my interviewer asked me just two questions. one was my purpose of visit and my daily duties. my purpose of travel was for a training and the training center sent my company just an invoice without an invitation or schedule. so my answer to the first question was that i didn't have an invitation but just the invoice that was sent to my company. He then took like 30secs to explain to me that the invoice didn't represent the fact that the training center had accepted to train me or had invited me to the US to undergo the training. To the second question, i stated my company, and elaborated on my daily duties. What followed was that he left his post with my passport, the invoice and the travel request form from my company. when he returned he just filled out the 221g form and told me that they would contact me. How would you access my sutuation?

I noticed that when we check our application status after an interview, it shows that our case was created two or three days before the interview date. Does this mean that the visa officer reviews all of the applicant's information before the interview? Or do other visa sections operate in the same way?

Hi. I have applied for C1D visa renewal in Azerbaijan Baku. I got my previous and first one Ukraine Kyiv last year. Was in administrative process. but it took only 2 weeks. Now this new application goes more than 2 month already. I have presented all the documents, my travel history, cv, my cover letters, appraisals from my employers, police clearance from all places i have been. I even did already 1 contract on board of cruise line. But it still pending administrative process and i can lose the job because of this. Can i apply again for the same type of visa at the same consulate just refresh their mind about my case?

Hello, Is it possible to be put on 221G after your case was approved the day of the interview for IR1 visa? My husband went to his interview in Honduras on 6/10/24, officer stated that interview was approved and handed him a document that says congratulations your immigrant visa is approved. However, 5 days later he received a 221g through the mail courier that only stated case under review no documents were requested for us to send. We have reached out to the embassy via phone and emails multiple times, but unfortunately we only get automated replies by the third party call center with no helpful information.

My husband was given a 221g at the embassey in Lagos Nigeria stating that the following is needed to submit (1) Future visit, (2) Relationship statement and (3) ticket stubs.
