Victor Ambrose's fantastic paintings and drawings of the excavated sites as they looked thousands of years ago are always the culmination of the great work the Time Team did for rediscovering parts of our lost heritage. The team are so likeable, witty at times and every single one an expert in their own field of work - even Tony Robinson, expert narrator and presenter ! This series should still be running ! 😜

+Whatsinmypocket "that blonde" is Dr Carenza Lewis, who was with TT from the very beginning. The conservator may or may not have looked into the mirror as Carenza did; regardless, after watching Carenza for years on TT, she was probably just caught up in the excitement of the moment.

Modest, nice and kind - you flatter us beyond the reality. Much as I love our history and read volumes about it, don't confuse a brilliant and well constructed TV series with our culture as it is today. Britain has plenty of uncivilized and loutish people (not representative of us I admit, but they're still there), and we didn't conquer large parts of the globe by being nice, although luckily we did spread the concept of the rule of law and the idea of civic responsibility as a by-product of Empire. Our intentions may have been high-minded, but many of the problems in Africa and the Middle East are a result of endless British (and French) meddling in other people's affairs over the centuries. Nonetheless the industrial revolution started in Britain and changed the world in much the same way as the Romans brought cities and towns and some wonderful technologies, such as tiled roofs, to western Europe. A million thanks to Reijer Zaaijer, whoever you are, for putting Time Team on YT allowing us to savour these fascinating digs into history

Being from Belfast (the 70's were horrifying) and having worked in e. Africa, I have to agree with much of your early statement. However, history is fascinating and instructive. It's full of cautionary tales. Time Team makes history even more interesting. It's not our history or your history. It's human history that shows how very connected we all are, my friend! 🙏

Reijer Zaaijer has all but one or so of the regulars, and in general his regular episodes are slightly better in quality. Fillask has just about every extra, special, live, digs, etc. and all are watchable too. They both went above and beyond and did education and history a great service. I owe them both soooo much. @@jukes888 If you'd mentioned bureaucracy and taxes I'd agree with you, but we already had roads. They just didn't go in straight lines. They went to places WE wanted to go - like The Ridgeway which runs from Norfolk to Wiltshire following a chalk ridge and passes by lots of towns and villages along the way. There were roads like it all over the British Isles long before the Romans came along.

Its unbelievable that for hundreds of years Romans built and used roads, baths, plumbing, heated floors and 100s of other things then when they disappeared no one knew how to do it themselves. No one built roads or baths or anything. So strange. Yet the Roman roads and aquaducts and such were still there to see. People went backwards and primitive.
@Cheepchipsable2 жыл бұрын
The Romans built them for themselves and the craftsmen would have come from the continent, so no surprise the knowledge wasn't widely known by the locals.
