Geeeez, Whaaaaaa, Ohooooo. Okay, Anna. As a looong-distance motorcycle rider, Veteran of dozens and dozens of trips of loooong duration, riding Solo in all of them but two, I have a few points to make regarding the trip planning process. With all due respect, starting with your buying a semester's worth of materials, i.e., paper, pens, stickers, markers, et cetera, is the way a college kid would do it. Not knocking you for it, but you began to leave college life and its late-in-the-game thinking behind you the first time you fired up the van. Here's the tried and true method that has worked beautifully for me, and incorporates the multitude of feelings you have about the next journey. End Part I. See Part II shortly.

I love how you plan your travels out. It gives you a good guide line. I think I'll follow your example and do something like that when I finally hit the road. That way I'll have some sense of the direction I want to go and I can plan things and places to see along the way. And, some sense of where I'll stay each night. Welcome back! I moved to Connecticut from the west coast in September of last year, drove the whole way in my tiny red car with my dog and a few personal items. It is still VERY cold at times up here but today it's in the 60's. (thank goodness) honestly, there are some incredible places you should visit if you're looking to clear your mind. I was a truck driver for 14 years and a Road Atlas was my bible because it was very detailed and it also told me where not to go with a Semi because of heights or weight. I think you should have one its a great tool for travel. Paper maps are great for single states or cities but the Road Atlas gets you there through any state.

What timing, I just came back to Wisconsin from over two months in my van in the southwest and everything is so surreal when you leave home for that amount of time and come back. First evening home and I put KZbin on and see this video! I’m also trying to figure out where my next adventure will be. I hope you have a great next adventure!! (Speaking of Rockford, if anyone is traveling through that city, I’d recommend visiting Anderson Japanese Gardens, they don’t open until May, but they are beautiful and wonderfully relaxing - much of it based on Zen Buddhist garden design.)

Glad to see you are moving again. One warning - If you travel South, be careful of Spring Break (especially in Florida and Louisiana). Funny that you are close to me (in NW Indiana). I have visited a few parks while driving South, check out National parks in Kentucky, Tennessee and even the Carolinas. Please keep us all updated and have a safe, fun and enjoyable trip.
