Time to get this Neglected Overgrown Garden Border back into Shape

This garden border had been neglected for a year so was badly in need of some care and attention. After collecting the leaves, weeding and turning the soil some pruning and shaping of the hedges and shrubs and also a few new plants it is ready for Spring and Summer.

The garden looks good. But removing the foliage is a mistake. In healthy nature there is no uncovered earth. For an optimal soil climate, we should also rethink our gardens.

So many " Landscaping " companies and workers are a joke to me, they actually do more harm than good. It seems you know what you're doing and appreciated all the good things that were there enhancing them with judicious care. So many times I see good plants and foundation designs obliterated and not incorporated into an even more lush, year round delight. Really nice job here, your discerning eye and hard but wise efforts helped make this garden and yard a potential gem for decades.

Spear and Jackson. It is a good sharp edger. Or if you mean the mechanical edger at the beginning, it is Stihl.

Your way of cutting shrubs is what we call the "Housekeeper style". I'm sorry, but you didn't care about how these plants grow naturally. You just make them balls of different sizes and colour. They remain being useless for birds. I know people like that because it looks tidy and organized. But this way of maintaining a garden isn't even faster! You have to do it every year, sometimes even twice. Letting the shrubs grow as they would naturally do, would Tracking you about three times as long, but you would have to do it only every three to four years.
