well you need to train your horses to pull a smalltrailer or wear panniers so they can move stuff up the hill.

From comments you have made it is obvious you don't have any experience with horses. However, you have an EXTREMELY valuable resource there that you are not using. AND much cheaper than other motorized suggestions!! Maybe you have a neighbor who can help teach you or, better yet, your daughter. Also, there are lots of info online (you tube university) to help her/you learn. Both of you are intelligent, hard working people which is usually passed on to the children. Because this has to do with her ponies she has motivation to learn. She can both pass on what she learns as well as becoming more involved in helping on the homestead (and with her ponies)!! This VLOG has quickly turned into one of my favorites. Not just because of content but because of the likability and humor of you two. I envision your subscriber content growing. As always, looking forward to the next time!! ❤❤

You could be saving hours to do other work and you put out such great content I'd consider it reimbursement. Lovely to see how the Irish countryside looks in the fall. Growing garlic is one of the easiest crops to grow! Mix in some bone meal for root growth and good compost. Once planted, just make sure to cover with straw or other mulch to protect from freezing. It is so satisfying to see the green shoots in the spring and get that harvest in summer! Love watching your Irish activities each week.

I think a little removable platform in front of the dishwasher would allow Cori to reach it and the freezer too. Whatever your views about dishwashers, less washing up in the caravan means less humidity, even if you have a dehumidifier (well worth designing into the renovations). It is a pity the garage wasn't retained with the house.

Amazing that you are still smiling and find the humor in these enormous tasks. I hope you're keeping track of your daily steps, honestly those hikes up and down are exhausting. All while the ponies watch your every move I think I'd formulating a plan of hitching a wagon to those ponies and have them earn their keep. Getting your appliances indoors before winter is a smart move, and purchasing another freezer for your harvest will come in handy for many years to come. I'd definitely pass on the idea of lugging dirty/ clean dishes back and forth to use the dishwasher especially in cold and freezing temperatures unless...Kayvan is volunteering 😂

It is always best to set up your food production/wage earning pieces before making a really comfy cosy nest to live in. I think all the really successful people do it that way round. You set up a remote work situation before you got the land and now you are developing the food aspect. Good for you!

Funny to read all the comments about just get the ponies to drag or pull something. Look, ponies or horses have to be trained for doing this. Just go out to an untrained horse or pony and try to put a harness on them and then happily shout out "let's go, sweety". 😅😅😅
@CLFL14256Сағат бұрын
100 likes for your comment. I can see an untrained horse bucking bags of woodchips all over the place, lol. Also, as they came from a rescue, there might be contractual restrictions of what they can do with the two cobs (knowing how awkward Irish rescues can be, e.g. way over the top}.

hi there. if it were me then i would buy a skid steer (formely know as a bobcat) instead off a quad. becasue i would use that one to haul things and make diffrent roads and so on but that is me. i followed a guy that breed bison and so on and he called his skid steer in a ironic way for a "mechanised ranch pony" hehe hope you have a great day! :)

Put the dishwasher on the ground and the dryer on top of it I think it would be easier to load and unload the dryer up high and as others have said put those freeloading horses to work carrying things with some sort of used wheeled cart most likely cheaper than a motorized vehicle for haling and no gas needed.

Only advice I can give is to keep the site tidy, we lived on site with our 2 preschoolers and 1 slightly older child. The 2 year was the worst wanted to help, but nearly was chainsawn one morning. The builders laughed that each night we cleared the site, but that was for safety of the children. We had no bathroom and kitchen for a autumn/winter. Still had a toilet and shower!!! But the dust through the rest of the house was a major problem. Plus living many miles from anything to keep the preschoolers occupied.

2 things about the dish washer. It is too high up(for you in particular) to load the dishes, especially on the top rack. Also, taking the dirty dishes out to the dishwasher and then back to the caravan to be used again, is a waste if time and teetius. I think for now, stick with washing up the dishes in the caravan.

😊 I'm Jerry, who is male the guy you mentioned in your comment today. Try using a hammer claw to extend your arm reach, and it is easier to tote sheet goods. Another thought make sure you use a mask when handling or cutting the insulation. My little experience with animals is that they eat or drink anything. The insulation details you mentioned seems especially gnarly that might cause cancer if not teated carefully. Your continuing smiles, planning, and work makes me wonder what you're up to in the mext video. Go get'um. (as if you had a choice) Best wishes and bandages. Jerry

Not sure what rental equipment costs near you, but could you rent something like a small skid steer loader for a day to make moving materials around? I used to do everything by hand with manual tools, ladders, etc and have found a short term rentals to be a massive time saver and not super expensive.

Hi. Loving your story. I did something similar but opted for Poland 4 years ago 🙂 As far as your dishwasher is concerned. How about putting it on the floor with the tumble dryer on top? The other suggestion is a bit wacky, and in truth not anything I know about. I get that ATVs etc are not feasible at the moment but I do feel for you guys having to trapse up and down those hills carrying sacks and so on. So why not enlist the ponies? Make a cradle to place on their backs and load them up. Isn't that what they did back in the day? As I said not a subject I know anything about 🤔 Wishing you guys well 😁

Could you line the office wall with these panels of insulation, or would the smell be horrendous? Would the damp proof membrane help? One word to fight winter, at least in Colorado, Fleece. Fleece sweaters, fleece hoodies, fleece trousers, fleece socks. They've saved my bacon more than once! We're weird. We don't do full coats until well below freezing or until it snows. Wow! It's colder in Ireland than Colorado. Now that's just wrong. You have my sympathy.

Question: do you have a dry barn for the horses when the weather starts to get very miserable? My understanding was horses need a dry area as otherwise you run into hoof problems if they are constantly standing in wet/muck. Hopefully you have something already suitable as this would be a pain to build on the fly in the cold.
