Another beautiful conversion. I am not a big fan of rear spoilers or wings, but I always felt the 911 looked incomplete without the whale tail. Those mired in the past are nuts. I've been riding and driving for more than fifty years and I have no illusions about the fact shifting and noise don't add to the driving experience, they detract from it.

True, except evs came first not ice. Its sad and amusing it was mufflers, the Kettering electric starter motor and cheap oil due to endless wars. Which enabled stupid inferior ice to replace evs in the late 1920s. Up to that time here in America evs&gassers had near peer market share even inc commercial trucks gm used to sell. And NY city even banned ice vehicles+had more every Chargers per capita then than now!

Can’t deny your work is excellent and it may keep classics on the road into the future, however…. I went back to a 911 back in the 90’s because the quieter performance car I was driving felt like it was doing 60 at 100 mph! In a 911 (air cooled) you get the noise and rear biased driver enjoyment at a more sensible lower speed , feels like 100 at 60 mph… license saver in my book

I like the speedhut instruments. Perfect matching. I could identify the speedo, the amps and the battery level as the three main instruments but I wonder about the two small gauges left and right. I like the discussion you had about the sound. I got my first EV in September. I'm loving the sound and lack of sound with an EV. The little bit of noise you hear as the motors are spinning up sounds cool to me. I will say the lack of a lot of noise is some times an issue for me. When I hear something in the glovebox rattling, the buckle on my briefcase shacking or my parking pass on the rear view mirror vibrating... it can drive me crazy.

Great test by both of you, more of Tim driving please because it's funny to see Richard's nervous passengering. If this was mine I would want to experiment with speakers, pipes and air pumps to get something like an engine sound, for my own entertainment. At low speeds I did find with my Model 3 that it's very hard to judge speed (not helped with the position of the speed readout in that car) and it got me a speeding ticket once.

Boxsters have yet to start gaining in value. I'd probably pick up a Boxster with a poorly drivetrain for a conversion. My old Targa was a great car but at the end of the day, it's all about the drive. And I'd like to think the Boxster would deliver with this powertrain.

I have a low mileage 2004 3.2 S Boxster. A large part of the appeal is the wonderful flat 6 engine when it gets over 4000 rpm. Pointless without this in my personal opinion. I'd rather pay more to keep it running with synthetic fuel made with renewables.

Crafting the sound to benefit performance driving of EVs has been done... by Hyundai (in their Ionic 5N, to great critical acclaim). Turns out, auditory feedback is indeed very useful when driving a car hard, and eyes need to be on the road instead of gauges.

The wiper arms have been transposed - the one on the passenger side (with the slight upward tilt to it) should be over on the driver's side, and the one on the driver's side (with the slight downward tilt to it) should be over on the passenger side. Also, ditch those hideous 'flappy paddle' aero wiper blades for the conventional Bosch wiper blades, for a much more 'period correct' look.

And then they start finding reasons to hate it..after they've had the biggest grin on their face a few moments before ... totally delusional in my opinion.

Very interesting, as usual. I am considering this if ICE in my 1981 Targa dies. I am a bit worried with the way you pushed the front battery further than the axis, is it noticeable in turns? I think the inertia of that front mass will act against the turning

@francesconicoletti25472 ай бұрын
These figures are from the internet so probably fuzzy. Taycan has sold about 136 thousand cars, tesla has sold about three million. Neither company is selling crate motors so motors come from junked cars. Which probably com from written off cars. There are going to be a lot more written off Teslas.
