A new bargin engine to try out. A 2.49cc PAW diesel which has stood for a long time and it's very stiff. Time to try it out. @MarkRobinson555

Really nice to see these old engines running, I've got a PAW 2.49 and a .80, You'll find the engine size stamped on the rear of the engine screw casing. I run mine up sometimes in my workbench too,lol

Very nice mark, always nice to see an old engine given a new lease of life. Maybe a strip done and clean would do it well. 👍🏻
@MarkCroucherRC4fun3 ай бұрын
Yes the carb. had a strip down then away she went going to try the correct propeller for it and see how it goes.

The PAW website has instructions and a demo KZbin video but that runs well.

Should have a stamp on the backplate ? Look carefully they are not easy to see :)
@MarkRobinson5553 ай бұрын
Often there is nothing on the back plate, if it is an early engine, stamping the back plate was a later development, and an extremely useful addition 😀
@deanlouden23433 ай бұрын
I have about 25 of them and all have stamps.. mine must all be later ones, they all look the same :) I just hold them up to whatever they are going in and if they look right they generally just need a prop up or down :)

Just gave the backplate a clean with some alcohol... Yep 2.49 stamp.

@@MarkCroucherRC4fun Progress Aero Works actually. PS. I know of one diesel enthusiast who disapproves of using electric starters on diesel engines. I can't see the problem myself unless either the contra-piston is screwed down so low that it touches the piston or there's so much fuel in the emgine that you get a compression lock.

@@daviddavis7710 Very easy to get a hydraulic lock after priming the engine. I am one who would never use a starter on a diesel.
@MarkCroucherRC4fun3 ай бұрын
@@daviddavis7710 I understand the logic with smaller engines than this (DC motors for example) however this is 2:5 cc if it cant stand the use of an electric starter then there is something wrong with it. 😊
