Honestly this is what you need to build bridge. The cylinder cement goes into the river, the water easily passes through and you build atop of the cylinder putting huge rocks in between.

You nee to cap that well for safety reasons (ie. lose an animal falling in, drowning and poisoning your hard fought water source). Maybe wooden with a liftable door for access when needed.
