I agree with you 100%. I love classic style but enjoy mixing in trends too. As an artist I couldn’t have a completely neutral wardrobe, I need color to be happy! Thanks for another great video.

I think a touch of color really elevates any look! And you completely "get that" Artists always know what's best!

I've loved the classics since the 60's!!! Jackie O... My favorite is the red tweed cropped jacket from J. Crew!!! I'll soon be 72... Thank you from a California Gramma ❤️

You look amazing in those bootcut jeans with the white button up shirt in the denim segment. Perfect long lean look for you! Just goes to show how simple pieces can look so chic and flattering!

High waisted wide leg jeans were in ,in the 70s and that’s what I wore, but they didn’t have any stretch. You’re right I have a pair right now that button up that are exactly what I wore back then it’s really weird when I put them on I have flashbacks of all kinds of memories😂😂😂❤

Hello Beth. You look fantastic, I can't get over your skin and you have a great figure. I turned 60 this year and I have gained 15 pounds!😔 I walk 5 miles everyday but I think since I(partially) retired I haven't been eating like I should. I am a classic girl and I just loved how you explained how trendy turns classic. Now that I have retired (I still tutor students) I find myself reaching for jeans everyday and you are so right you can really dress them up or dress them down. I love your videos and look forward to them.

I agree with the style choices you chose to illustrate how trends become fashion staples. Giving credit where credit is due to Coco Chanel for the "little black dress" is important; just as important is giving credit to the inventor of blue jeans. Latvian Jewish immigrant tailor, Jacob Davis, made pants out of denim cloth purchased from German Jewish immigrant Levi Strauss. Davis reinforced "strain points" with copper rivets to avoid tears. Lacking the necessary funds to get a patent, Levi Strauss accepted Davis' offer of a partnership & the "Copper Rivet" was incorporated into the Levi Strauss jean design & advertisements. The US Patent & Trademark Office granted Davis & Strauss US Patent 139,121 on May 20, 1873. Lumberjacks, cowboys & railroad workers in the western US were the primary customers of Levi's jeans in the 1920s. In the 1930s, dude ranches on the East Coast popularized them with their vacationers. During WW II, only people working in the defense industry were allowed to buy them. In the 1950s & 1960s, jeans were worn by greasers, mods, rockers & hippies. The "copper rivets" were replaced by bar tacks. As a fashion staple, jeans have undergone an extraordinary transformation as many top fashion designers made their own versions of this classic wardrobe staple. Perhaps in the future -- Beth -- when speaking about jeans, you could give credit to the inventor & his financial partner who made this working class uniform into a global fashion icon.

Thank you for this information! I think, like you, we should not forget where our "classics" came from and who were the ones to give them to the world. Coco Chanel is mentioned so often; let's also remember Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis who gave us the blue jeans. 👍

I think I know who you were talking about. Valarie Linen, the lawyer. Long platinum blonde hair. Right? She has quite strict rules. I actually watch several fashion experts and find good advice in several of them. Some were not my cup of tea. You are one of my favorites. Also because of your personality. 😊
@edennis85787 күн бұрын
I like Valarie's style. She doesn't advise tucking in every top like so many older youtubers do. Plus she wears a petite size, so I can see how clothes look in real life on an actual short person. She doesn't wear mini skirts or super frilly dresses like some do. She also doesn't swan around in $1500 Ralph Lauren cashmere sweaters while saying that everyone can dress like that at home while doing housework and having pets with claws (I'm looking at you, Marie-Anne!). Anyway, I use her videos as a baseline; I've always had somewhat eccentric taste, which doesn't go down well in small towns in the midwest. At 69, I still have to steer myself back to classic, over and over again. At my age, I don't want anyone thinking I've lost my marbles!

Thanks for sharing your clothing design ideas. I bought the Lume unscented but the smell was horrid so I returned it to the store. I do not like scented deodorants, although research shows a lot of women are not liking the scented Lume either. I've tried many natural deodorants and have not found one that will work for me living in southeast Texas in the hot summers. Native worked well, as did several others I've tried until the temperature got into the 90's.

Thank you, Beth. Enjoyed this. I hate faux leather as it always breaks up and its not even possible to donate it so it doesn't feel like its helping the environment to me. I try to buy vintage leather which lasts so much longer. Ive lost so many lovely faux leather pieces to them just coming apart😢
