Timeless Treasures - Vintage Aircraft at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016

The Vintage area at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is a haven for those who restore, fly, or simply love the aircraft of yesterday. In this video, we take a look back at the antiques and classics that were on display at AirVenture Oshkosh 2016, including close-up looks at Spartan Executives, a unique Ryan ST, a historic Interstate Cadet, and a brand-new 1909 Curtiss Pusher, among many others. The 2nd to last gentleman in this video being interviewed about the Ryan St is my grandfather Bob Jacoby, who was both a WW2 Air Force Veteran, and an aviation encyclopedia of epic proportions!! Ted and Doug invited my grandpa to join the restoration team shortly after his wife passed in 2012. It was an unbelievable dream come true for him considering the Ryan was his most favorite plane since childhood. Not only did this restoration help him bounce back from the loss of his soulmate, but I am convinced the Ryan-St saved my grandfathers life. It renewed his passion and gave him a sense of purpose!! He loved that plane and being a part of its team more than anything! Day after day that team worked tirelessly with one goal in mind, Oshkosh!!! The most coveted and respected gathering of plane builders / enthusiasts in the entire world!!! Well... Not only would all their hard work and dedication help them to reach that goal, but in Oshkosh, summer of 2016 they would take the 1st place trophy🏆and be the talk of Oshkosh for many years to come!! Later on that winter, December 2016, my Grandfather passed away, less than a month shy of his 90th birthday. He accomplished his dreams, touched so many lives along the way, and made his children and grandchildren very very proud!! We love you so very much Bepa!!!! God Bless America! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Haven't been in over 30 years! Ouch. Plan to take my wife there next year. Buying a Wittman W8 in Alabama soon and bring her home to Michigan. Historical design but different. Videos like this make me proud all over again...and truly greatful to be an Aviator.

Simply can not pass up Vintage at Oshkosh. It's been one of my favorite areas for the past 30 years. Those Spartan Executives look great! One of my favorites however is the Staggerwing. I've always wanted one. Great video!
