Awesome video. I have that exact same blaster, I believe a 2004. On mine my piston skirt broke in a lot of pieces breaking a piece of my crankcase off. I got I welded and bought a new OEM piston. I’m excited to get my blaster up and running. All I’m waiting for is a oil seal.

Hey, I was the one that commented about memories of my LT80 on the last video. If you get a REALLY clean used LT80 of any year (Preferably a yellow with blue seat one, like my 88 as a kid) post if on the tubes, so I can see. I will most definitely buy it, and either drive the 1000 miles to get it with my son, or have it shipped. He just turned 8 and I'd love to get him into the hobby, I was around the same age when I got my brand new 94 PW80 and 1988 LT80.

25:00 he was spot-on on not using that wrist pin bearing. Those only last about 20 hours before they end up heading out the exhaust. Get a reputable name brand needle bearing from all balls or wiesco if you need a new one

Always wanted a blaster when I was younger but my dad hated two strokes. Now I’m Looking for one for my boy. Prices seem to still be jacked found one that looks like a complete turd with spaghetti wiring hanging off it and add says it needs a top end for $600. At $200 this would be a no brained to pick up. I think you are supposed to have the tool at 90 degrees for the torque wrench to be accurate. Thats how it is for the AR barrel nut anyway. Great vid!

A piece of advice if people don't know is to make sure you have the correct sparkplug in. I had the wrong one in apparently and blew a hole in the piston.

You have to have the torque adapter at a 90 degree angle to achieve proper torque, or use the head length chart to compensate if using it straight on

With that torque wrench adapter you have to do a calculation. Just setting the torque wrench to the torque spec does not make it correct, with the extra length of the wrench gives more torque and thus that was more than 20 ft pounds.

I'm almost 5k into trying to fix mine. After all that money and found out a few weeks ago, the crank case is cracked and that's been my issue. Only got one to ride with my dad on his blaster. I could've bought 3 blasters with the money I put into mine. Such a mistake.

Man that sucks. Leakdown test may have helped. Usually will show ya where case is leaking. Important tool for blaster trouble shooting

you're over torquing those bolts. if you're using the motion pro adapter thing it needs to be at a 90 degree angle to the wrench. if its straight out like at 29:45 you're adding leverage and throwing off torque specs. just so you know
