@@pygmyl Hi, I use this Timemore C2 for my 3 cups moka pot coffee, and I find for light roasted coffee beans 14 clicks is a good starting point, you can adjust finer up to 12 clicks if you find the coffee is under extracted and up to 16 clicks if your coffee taste a lot bitter and dry which means over extracted. I personally using 16 clicks for my medium roasted coffee beans and using an aeropress filter on the moka pot (to increase contact time because of the coarser grind) and the result is a well balanced coffee for my taste. Is " Timemore’s Chestnut C2 Hand Grinder " , recommended for Turkish grind or espresso grind ? If not , could you please recommend me a manual hand grinder which goes well with espresso fine grind size ?
@workshopcoffee90013 жыл бұрын
We'd recommend Timemore's Slim Plus model for this, as it comes fitted with the E&B (Espresso and Brewing) burrs as standard.
@Martin_Edmondson3 жыл бұрын
I like mine a lot, for the price it is unbeatable value. It really is a world better than the cheaper ones you can get from Hario and the like (pretty much anything with a ceramic burr.) I had some minor misalignment which I could fix with a bit of tape on the outer side of the outer burr. When the grinder spins there is oscillation in the grind size. I am not sure how it affects the taste, as it doesn't seem to affect the amount of fines and general consistency. I think there are definitely better grinders out there, but this will do a good (enough?) job, particularly for the low price. The 1zpresso looks to be the next step up, whether that is worth it to you is another matter. There are diminishing returns, and if you are chasing the last ~10%, then maybe the C40 is more for you.
@workshopcoffee90013 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comments, Martin. As you suggest, the consideration comes down to value and balancing the quality and consistency you get from the grinder versus is price. The answer in the Chestnut C2's case is quite a lot given the RRP.

You probably got the older version of C2, since Timemore upgraded their lines of manual grinder on 2021 including the C2, the upgraded version has aluminium dial and adjuster compared the older one that has brass dial and plastic adjuster. Honestly there are no big difference between the old and the new C2. The aluminium dial & adjuster doesn't affect the grind process neither the result, just a marketing gimmick I guess. Do you know if there any differences between the C2 and the Slim beside dimensions?
@workshopcoffee90013 жыл бұрын
It ultimately comes down to the material choices. The Slim's grinding chamber is fully constructed from metal, which means that the driveshaft is mounted a little more securely than the C2. This results in a little less wobble and improved uniformity of the grounds. The C2, however, enlists plastic for the lid, the handle's grip, the grind adjustment dial and the internal body of the grinder. This helps to reduce costs and offer a grinder that remains consistent, but is more accessibly priced.

Which would be the starting point? The one where you can't rotate anymore as you move through the clicks normally or the one where you push a tad more for that final click? If it’s the former, would the latter damage the unit? Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question haha. Just can’t find any info online.
