The guy behind the counter at an inn will have the same voice as the blacksmith and so on and so forth. There's a reason they shell out for less than 15 voice actors for 100 roles, because its cheap and people keep buying the game.

Do you think VAs voicing weird characters just happen to be likely good?.... or there are other explanations. For instance, maybe weird characters with distinct characteristics in their voice are actually easier to voice act compared to a mundane characters? I think it's hard to portrait an apparently normal character to be exceptional (For instance, it's hard to portrait alfred in the batman trilogy well in a memorable way). It's easier to portrait an apparently exceptional character to be exceptional. (For instance, it's easier to portrait the joker well. Almost every single actor for joker is regarded as very well performing.)

Cicero didn't "kill for money", it was more of a religious thing. He should have been the only member in the Skyrim Chapter that still believed in Sithis and The Night Mother at that time. The thing is, if someone wants you dead so bad that they could reach The Night Mother through the ritual, you deserve it. Apparently, even if you do the ritual, your "prayers" do not always go through unless you really really mean it. But Cicero would kill if he is upset.

The only way that is possible is if the Dark Brotherhood quest line is the very first thing you do. Because Cicero stays near Lorelius Farm for the entire game, even after you have helped him. He's scripted to move to the Sanctuary only after you have completed the first contract from Nazir.

I've been playing Skyrim for years, assassinated the Emperor at least twice and destroyed the Dark Brotherhood at least once, but I had never found that sideroad encounter.

So he takes his anger out on Lorieus the farmer instead. He only attacks Astrid because she breaks the tenets of the Dark Brotherhood. Oh, and the argonian too, because for the same reason. Now imagine, if we spared Cicero and we did this to him before, he goes and gets his revenge by doing the same thing to us, by telling on a guard while we are doing a contract, and we end up in prison, but he has faith that we'll be able to escape because we are the listener, just so he can laugh in our faces out of spite/glee.

Fun fact/possible spoilers: If you don't kill Cicero later on, when he goes berserk on the members, you can let him live and he'll join you later on and you can have him as an companion. He also has a few more unique one-liners that "regular" companions do not have. Such a gimmick, this guy. PS. That voice acting is off the hook. You can tell that the voice actor had alot of fun doing this. And I had my few laughs with Cicero, too.

I have a theory. The Night Mother regularly purges Brotherhood chapters because the members have fallen so far from their original purpose. In this case she sent Cicero to deal with it because she saw him as truly loyal. He's loony, but he gets it. He will do ANYTHING to protect her and the values of the Brotherhood. Now look at Astrid. She doesn't give a damn. All she cares about is the money and realized all too late how bad she screwed up. Assassins shouldn't be known for something, notoriety brings attention. Killing someone's relative so they'll come around? Viable but risky. Just seems like the Night Mother knows when a chapter is at risk.

Regardless of if you report a crime to the guard. I find having a high speech or getting the Amulet of Articulation from the Thieves Guild questline helps in passing the speech check needed to make sure the family lives.

I knew about this on a side note I do find it funny that if you steal some items from the fisherman behind the 3 stones on your way to riverwood there is a chance he/she will contact the dark brotherhood to have you murdered 🤣 fairly common that they send thugs instead but the assassin one is always interesting since on higher difficulties having an assassin jump you is super scary despite them wearing light armor and using daggers

If this game were truly open world, you’d have the option of telling Cicero you know who snitched to the guard. Then tell him it was the old Orc on the road to Rorikstead. Interesting to see how that then plays out.

Actually I did this quest like this but haven’t bothered to do the DB quest yet. And now, many in game days later, Cicero again has his wagon busted in front of the farmer’s house.

I made the mistake on doing this in my first playthrough..... went to the lorentius farm and was like "OMG HE KILLED BOTH OF THEM!" Never felt so much guilt for not helping cicero in my life. Now in every new playthrough I help Cicero out knowing that if you don't help him out and turn him in, this is what happens. Then I immediately join the dark brotherhood to keep them from chasing me down as I join guilds/factions and get stronger. Sometimes though, I dont even get this quest.

If you get Cicero harassed and kill the Dark Brotherhood the farmer lives. Best possible ending since you can't kill Cicero and throw the Night Mother in the Sea of Ghosts.

First time I played skyrim I actually did this and then later doing the dark brotherhood quest was shocked to see him out of prison and finding out he's a member of the dark brotherhood lol

One of my playthroughs, killed Cicero, he appeared back at the dawnstar sanctuary as if I didn't kill him... but I had his clothes... also do not know where shadowmere is in that playthrough either.

I think I turned him in once but also killed off the brotherhood that playthrough, never looked to see if anyone happened to Laureous or not.

If you go back to the farm shortly after doing this you will find the farmer and his wife have been murdered

I think it is linkes with the dark brotherhood quest. If you never do them Cicero and the farmers will just stay there until the end of time.
