Time have changed, when SAF was the manager, we almost zero access to the players and it was mostly controlled. Now, all players have improved access to the public which is harder to control for the manager. So to assume, SAF didn't give AF about the media is a fallacy for example he kept playing Forlan to help him gain foam because he was accused of signing a flop..

When you are getting paid 6 figures a week , you have the onus to at least strike parity with your performance regardless of the manager. Eric tan haag has had a bad season but the off field distractions didnt help , ronaldo, greenwood , sancho , new owners etc....
