Totally agree- The movement is not a swiss ETA movement, the dial has lesser finishing, and the case is of lower quality. Dont get me wrong, I really like it, but its definitely not on par quality wise as a Hamilton Khaki. Ive got both and theres a big difference in feel and appearance. In time it wont hold up as good as the hamilton or the bulova hack.

I'm not going to argue your logic at all but for me, there's something about the Hamilton that I just never connected with. I had the bronze and I have the Hack as well. I couldn't imagine not having the Timex and Bulova. Maybe I'd have kept the Khaki if it would have been SS.

The 41mm is 200m water resistance. Timex just killed it with this one. A few years ago if you said Timex would release a watch with titanium, sapphire, and an automatic movement I would have called you cockoo Cocoa Puffs

I have the Solar Powered 41mm Expedition North. I was convinced it was the better option when i had less horological knowledge. I prioritized the solar powered battery and “quieter ticking” over the mechanical version. I got it second hand for $99, but the seller didn’t tell me the Seconds hand was misaligned. Not sure if I’ll be able to service it, so I’ve learned to live with its imperfections

For inexpensive quartz seconds' hand misalignment is so common that it may be treated as feature 😢

I would definitely agree with you this is a nice watch. However for the same exact sum of $259 Glycine Combat 42 provides Swiss automatic SW200-1 200 m diver with wifi is extremely thin - just 10.5 mm

I think this is the only variant of this watch in mechanical. they do a 41mm titanium but it has an automatic movement (Miyota). I would love to see this watch in a 41mm mechanical. Absolute no brainer at this price.

Yeah.....hollow end links, pressed clasp without any adjustments, not a great bracelet, some kind of "paint" or coat that most likely is cheaply made and will eventually start to chip, chinese movement with probably 40ish hours of PR (vs 80h on the Hamilton). So..please tell us how it is a better watch than a Khaki Field lol I'd rather get a Seiko 5 SRPG27 as an example, if the extra cost of the Hamilton was a problem.

I have a soft spot for Timex (a mechanical Timex was my first watch many decades ago) and I currently have four Timex watches in my collection - Marlin hand wound, Pepsi Q, Ironman and an Expedition Scout. But there is no way this watch is the equal of a Hamilton Khaki or a Bulova Hack. The movement is not the greatest and the bracelet looks subpar. I do not see this watch as even that much of an improvement over my Expedition Scout (which was $34 new and has been an excellent field watch).

I think these are cool releases. I didn't realize they were Seagull movements as a lot of their other mechanical watches seem to use Miyota, right? Does Miyota make a hand-wind movement that would work in this price range? I don't see an uncoated version of this watch on a stainless bracelet, at least on the U.S. Timex site. The base aesthetics of the coating are kind of cool, but I don't like how it appears to be uneven across the bracelet (inside the folds aside). I do really think their solar Expedition North watches are very cool. Those would be a great affordable grab and go quartz option. I wonder if they'll ever consider a full titanium bracelet version of their 41mm titanium Expedition automatic. I don't know what that would cost, but it would be cool. I think it's great they have a variety of sizes in the Expedition line to fit pretty much any enthusiast's wrist/preferences (36, 38, 41mm).

I love this watch except for the size. I need at least a 40mm case and would prefer a 42MM case. The limited option in this instance and with manual wind options in general is frustrating. I don’t get the preoccupation with automatic watches. They aren’t as accurate as quartz watches so the only reason to buy one is because they are more interesting mechanically than quartz watches. But the best way to engage the mechanical distinctiveness of a mechanical watch is by the daily ritual of winding it up. I hope the market expands the options.

I have read several reviews on Timex's website that says the minute hand jumps 2 minutes when you push in the crown after setting the time. That is a pretty big flaw with the movement.

It's a very nice looking watch, BUT it's a Timex and their watches are NEVER very well made, they use extremely poor quality materials and the manufacturing quality is always VERY poor. When there are other companies doing the same design with MUCH better finishing and materials for a THIRD of what they're asking for and this is just another joke of a watch from TIMEX.
