The first owner of my 2008 endeavor and it has all highway miles at 316,000 the only thing I replaced was the timing belt and radiator.

13:06 how am I supposed to do this? The plunger is already extended there is no locking pin and i can’t get the plunger to go down and line the two holes up???
@nunkirider8738
@nunkirider8738 2 жыл бұрын
@ ttravis88t - You have to use a vise to compress it and insert a pin or if you don't have one, a C-clamp and a wood used to protect the plunger can be used to compress it. Just be careful the hydraulic tensioner might fly off. Good luck...

This video just like the first one that he did four years ago is fantastic. I just put our Mitsubishi back together and test drove it just now and works great with the new timing belt. Thank you thank you thank you for excellent detail and close up video shots of intricate important parts. Your notes saved the day.

Hahaha...you show the harmonic balancer pulley bolt as finger tight...just wait till some of you see how bloody tight they do that bolt ...you will need a serious rattle gun to get it out...a Milwaukee will do it....then again we had to get a breaker bar and lower the full weight of the car on it to undo a really tight one......good luck boys and girls

Thank you soooo much for actually editing and adding in texts every step. It seems to be way easier then my 1g 4g63 timing i did .. Ill be doing this tomorrow.

@@nunkirider8738 thank you.. Im gonna hold of on it for a couple weeks now due to i was so intrigued by the video and watching and rewatching, writing down notes, taking screens shots that i totally spaced out watching a video on removing the water pump...So, instead of spilling coolant on my brothers garage floor(minnesota climate, he has a heated garage) i decided to tackle the serpentine and pulleys, plus my front brakes..as the rears will be friday.. Rusted bolts and such turned an hour job into 5.. But, This will be my go to video for trouble shooting as i like how you stopped and point out certain little things. Thanks again though

well, about the same.. but I've used this video and the pics a few times now .water pump replacement cause duralast, another was to check the water pump. I changed a timing belt on a 4g63 by candlelight in winter. so once you get the hang of it.. ;)

Nice informative video. I'd just like to ad my take on this job . The grenade pin will not spin freely if the tensioner gap was 5.9mm because the plunger would come out a bit however with a range between 4.8 and 6mm the tension would still be within specs even though the pin dosent spin freely anymore at say 5.8mm.

I found tdc on no 1 (left bank front) manually spark plug out with long screwdriver and old cam belt setup sprockets are both bout 4 teeth off clockwise equally from cam engine pointers. Is this usual? Havent checked crank sprocket marks yet as i was winging it, then it got dark, then found your video. Old cam belt still on. Any ideas

@xbgtfella - I have no idea… however, while turning the camshaft clockwise, and as screwdriver starts to go down, turn the camshaft back counter clockwise till the screwdriver goes back to the highest point again and note where your TDC marks are… Thank you for wacthing the video...

I purchased a new timing belt tensioner (Aisin #BTM-500) for 2005 Endeavor. New out of box the pin will turn but not spin easily as you show. Is it defective or should I install it? Thank you, great video!
@nunkirider8738
@nunkirider8738 3 жыл бұрын
@Bob Adams - Out of the box, that pin is under tension and will not turn when flicked, the pin will only spin if flicked when it is already properly installed. Thank you for watching the video.
@bobadams3661
@bobadams3661 3 жыл бұрын
@@nunkirider8738 But @18:40 you spin the pin before torquing the tensioner. Isn't that same condition as "out of the box"? It looks like all you did was bolt the tensioner to the motor.
@nunkirider8738
@nunkirider8738 3 жыл бұрын
@Bob Adams - If you just have installed the tensioner and the timing belt or released the center bolt for re-torquing, the pin will be tight to turn and will not spin when flicked. What I did is that I turned the tensioner pulley counter clockwise with the tool MD998767 on a ratchet (not with a torque wrench as seen at 17:21) until I can spin the pin freely and then tighten snugly the center bolt with a box wrench to hold it in place (which I missed to show on the video). At this point I know that the tension that is applied to the tensioner pulley is already at specs. Then I did the procedure at 18:40. My apologies for the confusion and thank you very much for watching the video.
