Do i need to align the camshafts or can they be in any position while installing the chain?

I looked in your description and there is no link to the 2 hour video on how to do the entire timing chain and there isn't a link to purchase the actual timing chain. please add those links. Thanks

I didn't see a part number or link for the cam sprocket bolts

at what mileage do you do the timing chain on this vehicle we've got a 2011 MXT and it doesn't say anything in the owner's manual to me it normally gets done between 60 and 100000 miles but I don't see any indication at all in the owner's manual

I have a 2011 mkx with 3.7, the water pump went bad and I replaced it, I watched your videos along with another one so I know I put the time chain and marks correctly. But the engine light is on and I delete it but comes back on with code P0245 and P0349, sensor A Bank 2, I have swapped the Cam sensors from front head to back head but it still has the same code. It runs very nice but is a little sluggish at take off, seems like A/C is running on all the time. The weird thing is the timing chain on both top sprockets were off by 1 link when I took the covers off, the colored link was beside the dot timing mark, never looked at the bottom sprocket though. What could be the problem, I checked several times to make sure the marks were like you had said when I put it together. Thanks in advance.

Hello. My mazda cx 9 2008 with a 3.7 engine has a mileage of 300 thousand kilometers. I changed the coolant at 280,000 km when I bought the car. The fluid is checked twice a week. Should I replace the pump or the car and check the condition of the coolant and engine oil? What are the first symptoms of a leaking pump? I am asking for your opinions.

In these engines the water pump has dual gaskets, an inner and an outer. if the water pump bearing and seal go bad the water enters the first chamber of gaskets and is there to warn you the pump has gone bad and to change it. Once the inner gasket is breached there is a small drain that exits from the front of the block so if you see a small amount of coolant on the ground and you cant find where its coming from look to that drain hole.. the last line of defense from the coolant entering the oil is the secondary gasket. hope this helps, you can see the inside of the pump in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/mp6omIuArshqbKM

Thanks for the answer. So what do you do? replace this pump or wait until the seal is empty and now observe the condition of the coolant. This is quite a cost, so I want to avoid this replacement if it's okay. The only thing I fear is that it will happen on a trip and I will be unlucky.

@@To-Masz If you do not have a coolant leak and there is no coolant in the oil (it will look like butterscoth, oil and coolant mixed is frothy) then you are fine. Do you know if the timing job has been done yet since you bought it used? if it has been done then there is no need to worry until you see a coolant leak from the front of the block, coolant is going missing like mentioned before or it's in the oil. Do you have any of these symptoms?

I do not know if the pump has already been replaced, but rather 99% it was not. I already have a lot of mileage. I am afraid of that. I will go on vacation with my family and the pump will break down. I have no symptoms. As I bought it immediately, I changed the cooling fluid because 1 owner relied on the Mazda service and they think that it is a liquid for life

@@To-Masz as a good rule of thumb long life coolant should be flushed every 5 years as it begins to become acidic and will eat the gaskets and bearing in the pump. Really this timing chain doesn't have an interval at which you replace it rather that when the pump fails you might as well do it because the engine already has to be taken apart to do the pump so while you are in there you replace the chains, tensioner, guides, phasers and so on rather then risk a failure in the future and take it all apart again. you my get lucky and the pump may never fail on you or it could go the other way. It comes down to how long you want your car to last, if your hoping to push it to 400,000 kms like I've seen them go then it might be worth the investment but again it could got to 400,000 kms while needing nothing. I say keep doing what you are doing in monitoring the fluid and if nothing changes you're golden, why spend money that you might not have to. If it fails in the future then you do it then and it costs the same only you've squeezed out more mileage. I have a lincoln mks that had a pump fail so the timing job was done, so long as you are watching the coolant and none has gotten by the first gasket and continues to leak through the drain hole then you still have 2 layers of protection.
